4 Eagles Players Who Need to Get Healthy During Bye Week
The Philadelphia Eagles' bye week could not have come at a better time. Despite several Eagles being hindered by injury, the team has managed a 5-1 record, tied atop the NFC East.
In Week 8, against the Arizona Cardinals, the Eagles will need all the help they can get. Many players need to be at 100 percent if the Eagles hope to knock off one of the best teams in the NFC.
These four players are most crucial to the Eagles' hopes after the bye week.
1. Mychal Kendricks
1 of 4
The biggest loss of the Eagles defense has been the loss of inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks. While Billy Davis has been able to utilize players like Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry and Connor Barwin, Kendricks is essential to the Eagles pass rush.
2. Darren Sproles
2 of 4
If Darren Sproles is unable to play against the Cardinals, he would be a significant loss for the Birds. Sproles has been instrumental in the Eagles' 5-1 record. He has accounted for four touchdowns already, three rushing and one punt return.
Sproles' harder downhill running style was instrumental to the Eagles overcoming LeSean McCoy's slump when the offensive line struggled. Without him in the lineup, the Eagles will be without a physical between-the-tackles runner for short-yardage and goal-line scenarios.
3. Chris Polk
3 of 4
The Eagles are running dangerously low on running backs, as they will also need Chris Polk back as soon as possible.
Without Sproles or Polk, the Eagles' only backup running back to McCoy is tight end Trey Burton.
Additionally, while Polk is not the explosive big-play threat Sproles is, he is a bruiser and would be a good option in short-yardage situations.
4. DeMeco Ryans
4 of 4
DeMeco Ryans may have played against the New York Giants, but he did not appear to be 100 percent. He recorded only three tackles, tied for his worst performance of the season (against Washington).
Ryans suffered a groin injury against the St. Louis Rams in Week 5, according to ESPN.com. With a full week to rest up, his run-stopping ability will be essential to stopping Andre Ellington and the Cardinals running game.
