Super Bowl 2012 Predictions: Baltimore Ravens Are on the Move in Las Vegas
The Baltimore Ravens are definitely Super Bowl contenders and happen to be the only team that has moved in the betting market since earlier in the week.
Cantor Gaming in Las Vegas sent out the Ravens at betting odds of 6/1 to capture the Lombardi Trophy on Monday, but that number has fallen a bit for the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.
Let's take a closer look at the 12 teams that are hoping to play inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Feb. 5, 2012.
Denver Broncos
1 of 12The Denver Broncos are currently nine-point home underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their AFC wild-card round matchup on Sunday.
Quarterback Tim Tebow's season is likely to exit stage right.
The Broncos are 0-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four January contests, while the Steelers are a dominating 10-1 ATS in the same situation.
Super Bowl Odds: 60/1
Cincinnati Bengals
2 of 12The Cincinnati Bengals were 0-7 against playoff games this season, which shows that they have absolutely no chance of lifting the Lombardi Trophy.
Don't fall asleep on this team down the road, especially with the draft picks that it accumulated in trading former quarterback Carson Palmer.
Super Bowl Odds: 60/1
Detroit Lions
3 of 12The Detroit Lions aren't going to receive a lot of action at the betting window due to their 31-17 regular-season loss to the New Orleans Saints on Dec. 4, 2011.
Oddsmakers have established the Lions as 10.5-point road underdogs, facing a Saints squad that has covered 11 of their last 12 games inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Super Bowl Odds: 40/1
Atlanta Falcons
4 of 12The Atlanta Falcons are the sleeper in the NFC playoffs to come out ahead, but dropping both meetings with the New Orleans Saints is troubling to bettors.
Don't fall asleep on this team that was embarrassed as the No. 1 seed a year ago by the Green Bay Packers.
Super Bowl Odds: 35/1
Houston Texans
5 of 12The Houston Texans certainly offer some value in this category due to losing their last three games of the regular season.
I'm not surprised that the squad finished the season in that way, especially in securing a playoff spot for the first time in franchise history on Dec. 11, 2011.
Not out of the question.
Super Bowl Odds: 30/1
New York Giants
6 of 12The New York Giants survived the carnage of the NFC East division, sweeping the Dallas Cowboys in the process.
Quarterback Eli Manning gives them a legitimate shot, but I believe the story ends this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Super Bowl Odds: 16/1
San Francisco 49ers
7 of 12The San Francisco 49ers are built for the playoffs with a strong rushing attack and the league's No. 1 defense versus the run.
First-year head coach Jim Harbaugh is capable of leading his team to a victory on the road during the playoffs, which makes the NFC's No. 2 seed dangerous.
Super Bowl Odds: 10/1
Pittsburgh Steelers
8 of 12The Pittsburgh Steelers are attracting plenty of moneyline action in Las Vegas, as no one anticipates last year's AFC champion to fall in the Mile High City.
Something tells me that the oddsmaker anticipates this proud franchise to vacation early this year.
Super Bowl Odds: 9/1
Baltimore Ravens
9 of 12The Baltimore Ravens have been the lone mover on the odds board here in Las Vegas, which isn't very surprising due to possessing a much better defense than the New England Patriots.
Bettors are also aware that the Ravens swept their AFC North divisional series with the Pittsburgh Steelers this year.
It's not too late to play the AFC's No. 2 seed to win it all.
Super Bowl Odds: 5/1
New Orleans Saints
10 of 12The New Orleans Saints have been my Super Bowl pick since the preseason, but I'm not going to suggest a play on them at this point due to missing out on a first-round bye.
Quarterback Drew Brees will attract plenty of money at the betting windows on Saturday.
Super Bowl Odds: 4/1
New England Patriots
11 of 12The New England Patriots will rely heavily on quarterback Tom Brady in hopes of reaching the Super Bowl, as the defense ranked 31st in the league in allowing 411.1 yards per game.
No other team in the league needed home-field advantage more than this one.
I can't recommend a play on the Patriots at this price due to every AFC team having a shot of pulling off an upset in Foxborough.
Super Bowl Odds: 3/1
Green Bay Packers
12 of 12The Green Bay Packers have been the favorites since the Super Bowl futures market was established, but the betting odds have drifted upwards over the past couple weeks.
It's very difficult to repeat as NFL champions.
That fact alone has me looking elsewhere.
Super Bowl Odds: 7/5
