Manchester City: Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Citizens Starting XI vs. Bolton
Manchester City started off their new campaign with a bang on multiple levels.
Their team put on a clinic in the last 33 minutes as they scored four goals to rout newly promoted Swansea City in front of a packed house.
It was also nice to start the first campaign of the Etihad Stadium with a victory, and Roberto Mancini will be happy to have earned such.
This weekend they face another team that dished out a 4-0 beating to a newly promoted side after Bolton Wanderers pummeled Queens Park Rangers into submission at Loftus Road.
Bolton are scrappy at times but have more quality than they are usually credited with.
However, Manchester City expect to take nothing less than three points back home with them, and Sergio Aguero will look to continue his excellent debut season with what should be his first full 90 minutes appearance.
GK: Joe Hart
1 of 12Joe Hart only had to make three saves against Swansea City this past week. In all likelihood he will have to make a few more against Bolton Wanderers.
He has proven to be all City with his recent contract extension and he will be up for another key early battle for their title challenge this season.
RB: Micah Richards
2 of 12Micah Richards is one of the most impressive young center backs in England. His height and strength make him one of the strongest in the league.
He will have his hands full with Bolton's captain, Kevin Davies, who is equally one of the strongest front men in the league.
CB: Vincent Kompany
3 of 12Belgian international Vincent Kompany continues to show great promise on the right side of the defense as he has remained a mainstay in City's back line for the last three seasons since making the move from Hamburg HSV.
Once again he should earn the run out for the match.
CD: Joleon Lescott
4 of 12Former Everton man Joleon Lescot continues to hold down a regular place next to Micah Richards in the center of the Citizens defense.
His ability in the air will be key on set pieces on both ends of the pitch.
LB: Gaël Clichy
5 of 12Arsenal's former player made his Premier League debut for Manchester City with a first match victory. Gaël Clichy will most likely be a primary attacking component from the back for City all season long.
The Gunner was the last remaining member of the "Invincibles" to leave the London club and his departure signaled the end of an era.
RM: James Milner or CDM: Gareth Barry
6 of 12An injury to Nigel De Jong should see Milner return to the lineup on the right side of the midfield. The FA Community Shield performance from the former Aston Villa man was decent and he deserves a look.
His versatility should keep him in the starting lineup most of the season, but I could see him on the move come January with the Samir Nasri deal close at hand.
However, Gareth Barry is also a likely starter for the club as Mancini may wish to maintain a holding midfielder due to his Italian style tactics and mindset.
CM: David Silva
7 of 12Silva continues to be a creative spark for the Blues and he opened his account on Monday with his first goal of the season and was involved in the attacks all night long against Swansea.
He had an early effort stopped by Michael Vorm but would not be denied on the 71st minute when he scored the third goal of the night for City.
CM: Yaya Toure
8 of 12Yaya Toure scored 10 goals in his first 48 appearances for the Citizens last season. The club's highest paid midfielder continues to be the central focal point around which David Silva and the rest of the club's attack forms.
The 28-year-old should be the primary central midfielder all season. However, the arrival of Samir Nasri could give him a run for his money.
LM: Adam Johnson
9 of 12Adam Johnson took the first shot at Swansea keeper Michael Vorm but it was Edin Dzeko that took the rebound and made it the first goal scored at the newly renamed Etihad Stadium.
Johnson played 75 minutes in his first match after coming off the bench against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield the weekend before. He should once again get the nod on Sunday.
ST: Edin Dzeko
10 of 12Edin Dzeko looks to be showing the form of the player that Manchester City thought they had purchased in January. He had looked to possibly have been a failed signing from the Bundesliga, but now the former leading scorer in Germany is showing his teeth.
With two goals in as many games so far this new season, he will be on the front line for the start of the match against Bolton.
ST: Sergio Aguero
11 of 12His introduction at the 60th minute could not have been at a better time as it was a crowd-pleasing decision after the Citizens had just gone ahead.
Sergio Aguero capped one of the greatest debuts in Premier League history by hitting a brace against Swansea City in his 30-minute cameo last Monday evening.
The Argentine attacker looks fit to possibly have his first start of the campaign and of his Manchester City career.
Conclusion
12 of 12Roberto Mancini should be very happy with his team's form as of late despite their loss to Manchester Untied.
Bolton are a tough team to crack at the Reebok but I see the Citizens taking a 3-2 victory over the Trotters as they have the larger talent base, and the stronger attack.
