Hundreds of transfer rumors have come and gone this summer. There has been no lack of excitement built up by fans, only to have their hearts crushed by a move that just did not happen for their club.

So many moves remain on the table, but the majority of the major deals look likely to have been done for the summer.

With only eight more days in the month of August for teams to try and strengthen or recover some of the cash spent through sales, it is now down to the wire.

Regardless, there are rumors going back and forth with some of the biggest possibilities still hanging in the balance. In some cases there might be just enough time for a few more big money dealings to be complete.

That said, lets take a look back at 15 moves that did not happen or are yet to fully materialize into a deal.

Raul to Blackburn Rovers

It has been and will continue to be a long shot for the rebuilding club to sign Raul from Schalke 04.

Blackburn Rovers' new owners have been trying to secure a big name transfer all summer without any luck. It appears that the aging Spanish legend seems to be where all their hopes have been placed.

However, I just do not see it happening.

Deal Status: Dead.

Nicklas Bendtner to Stoke City

Arsenal's 6'5" Danish striker is another player that has been bound and determined to try and find a way off of the Gunners sinking ship this summer.

He has been targeted by Borussia Dortmund, as well as Stoke City. Pottters manager Tony Pulis has been keen to add the Dane's height, youth and experience alongside that of Kenwyne Jones at the Britannia.

However, Arsene Wenger's injury crisis and need for additional front men at the moment seems to be preventing him from leaving for now.

Deal Status: Most likely to be done in January.

Lassana Diarra to Tottenham Hotspur

With Luka Modric's future left to be decided on for Harry Redknapp at Tottenham, he has had to look at potential additions or replacements if he does indeed sell the Croatian to Chelsea.

One of those that might be making the move is Real Madrid's out of favor midfielder Lassana Diarra. With all of Jose Mourinho's youthful signings taking up space in the center of the park, veteran Diarra is looking to be forced out.

Deal Status: 50/50 depending on if Modric is sold and Spurs have the funds.

Joe Cole to Paris Saint Germain

Last week I took a moment to discuss Joe Cole and his future at Anfield.

I truly believe that if he has not yet played himself out of a spot in the Liverpool line-up or bench, he certainly has been displaced permanently. The additions of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam this summer have completely frozen him out.

He needs a move to either France or Italy to rebuild some confidence and to be able to play in a league where the steps he has lost will not affect him as badly as it does in England, where the pace is beyond his body now.

Deal Status: Should have been done, but looks to be put off till January.

Niko Kranjčar to Sunderland

Tottenham Hotspur's Niko Kranjčar is the forgotten Croatian in Harry Redknapp's possession. He joined Spurs from Portsmouth a year after Redknapp had made his move to London from Pompey.

It was believed that he would play a major role in the midfield along with fellow countryman Luka Modric but that never materialized.

At 27 years old, he still has his prime years left and interest for him has been expressed by Steve Bruce and Sunderland. He would most likely have made a great addition to the Black Cats as they continue to try and move up the table.

Deal Status: Dead.

Christian Poulsen and David N'Gog to Stoke City

Stoke City had expressed interest in a double deal to take both Christian Poulsen and David N'Gog to the Britannia from Liverpool.

However, it appears that the move completely broke down. Tony Pulis has had some success with former Reds, as Jermaine Pennant has been a key addition to his offensive system since last summer.

The move would have been great for Stoke as they could use a more defensive-minded midfielder in the mold of Poulsen.

David N'Gog is still young but is a raw talent, and Pulis has more time to mold a young striker than Kenny Dalglish at the moment.

It could be back on in January but it is yet to be seen.

Deal Status: Dead.

Phil Jagielka to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger seemed ready to make a big money move for Everton's center back earlier this summer.

However, the Toffee's boss David Moyes looked to have nothing of it as he rejected it outright.

Wenger needs another quality center back in London, but he will most likely be looking elsewhere.

Deal Status: Dead.

Diego Forlan to Tottenham Hotspur

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has been a long term target of Harry Redknapp. The Spurs boss has been rumored to have been after Forlan since last summer but nothing ever materialized.

Recently he once again has been linked with the Uruguayan international who recently helped his nation win the South American Copa America.

However, the impending wage demands look to have been too high, and the departure of Sergio Aguero to the English Premier League looks to have ended the chance of their other main attacker making an exit this season.

Deal Status: Dead.

Peter Odemwingie to Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur were in the hunt for the signature of West Bromwich Albion's 15-goal scorer Peter Odemwingie this summer.

Harry Redknapp is still in need of a front man that can produce that many goals a season, as his entire striker contingent of Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko all failed to score in double figures last season.

However, Odemwingie recently put pen to paper on a new deal for Roy Hodgson and he will remain a Baggie for the foreseeable future.

Deal Status: Dead.

Samuel Eto'o to Manchester City

Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o is without a doubt one of the most prolific attackers to ever have played the game.

His goal scoring in La Liga over a 10-year period was a huge accomplishment. He has continued that trend ever since moving to Italy.  Being part of four Champions League-winning sides has not hurt him either.

He was rumored to be heading to Manchester City earlier in the summer, but the subsequent break down of negotiations and the arrival of Sergio Aguero to Eastlands has scuppered it once and for all.

Deal Status: Dead.

Gary Cahill to Liverpool or Arsenal

One of England's most promising defensive prospects is Bolton Wanderers center back Gary Cahill.

The young Englishman has been the target of both Liverpool and Arsenal for much of the transfer window, but it may be too late for either of them to get the necessary components together to satisfy the Trotters.

Deal Status: Most Likely dead until January, unless the cash is seriously splashed.

Daniel Sturridge on Loan to Bolton Again

Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge was nothing short of sensational for Owen Coyle while on loan to Bolton Wanderers for 12 games last season.

The youngster scored eight goals during his time at the Reebok and Coyle has been anxious to secure him on loan for the upcoming season.

It seems that the regime change at Stamford Bridge has scuppered any hopes of that happening for now. However, come later in the season there is a chance we could see the youngster back on Trotters soil.

Deal Status: Could happen come January.

Luke Modric to Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur's manager Harry Redknapp continues to be stuck between a Croatian and a hard place.

His best midfielder and arguably best player has been the target of Chelsea all summer, but he has stood his ground and not given in.

However, Modric could still make an exit in the dying days of the window.

The question is truly if Redknapp can build a better team from the player leaving for new funds or if the 25-year-old is the biggest piece of the puzzle already in place.

Deal Status: 50/50 to be sold to Chelsea in the next week.

Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United

Manchester United look to have ended their pursuit of Wesley Sneijder for now, but I do not believe we have heard the last of the speculation over the Dutchman moving to the Premier League.

Sir Alex Ferguson brought in three new signings this summer but truly wanted to take Inter's prize midfielder to the Theatre of Dreams, no matter what he looks to have said in the press.

Deal Status: Dead.

Carlos Tevez to Corinthians

Michael Regan/Getty Images

First he wanted to go back to South America, then it seemed he wanted to go to Italy.  Now Carlos Tevez claims to be wanting to stay at Eastlands.

The former Captain is a loose end for Manchester City. The arrival of Sergio Aguero looks to have come at the right time, as he seems to be forming an understanding with Edin Dzeko at the front and appears a more than adequate, ready made replacement for his fellow Argentine.

Tevez now will be on the outside looking in and I believe if Corinthians can figure out the money issues that prevented the move this summer, he will be gone in January.

Deal Status: 50/50 to be completed in January.

Conclusion

There is still a little bit of time left, but many of the deals mentioned in this debate are done and dusted until January or destined to never happen.

It will be interesting to see all the last minute deals that come in between now and the 30th.
