Soccer: See 8 Breakout Players 19 and Under
You may or may not have heard of these 8 soccer players, but there is one thing that we should both be able to agree on: These players are going to go far in their careers.
They are at the perfect age—with the youngest of them being 18—and have already caught the attention of big-name clubs. One, as you might have already guessed, is already in a big-name club: Arsenal.
I hope you enjoy this list. While I know it is somewhat off topic, if you would like to see our Copa America predictions, here they are: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/767164-copa-america-2011-knockout-stage-predictions.
Erik Lamela: Argentinian Sensation
1 of 9This boy wonder, Erik Lamela, is 19 years of age and currently plays for River Plate. River Plate have been demoted to the Argentinian Second Division and now Roma have expressed an interest in the young Argentine.
His move is inevitable and I believe that when he goes to Europe, he is going to be a hit. With the skill this kid already has, if he works hard, there is nothing I can see that will stop him.
Even though his move to Roma is bound to happen, Erik admits that his dream club is Barcelona and that he still wishes to one day play for them.
Xherdan Shaqiri: Swiss Wonder
2 of 9The 19-year-old Swiss talent has already made his mark in Switzerland, playing for FC Basel and winning the Swiss Super League twice. He made his debut at the International level in 2010 and has played with them 10 times. Shaqiri primarily plays as a winger, but can also play mid-center.
Only time will tell where he will play in the future and how he will do, but wherever he plays, his future will be bright.
Spanish Matador: Iker Muniain
3 of 9This small, cheeky player can play anywhere down the left-hand side, but prefers to be used as a left winger.
He plays for Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish U21 side and is noted for his dribbling skills and pace.
The only big club which seems to be interested in him is Liverpool.
Neymar!
4 of 9This Brazilian boy wonder has big clubs such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona begging for his signature.
What remains to be said is that this kid is definitely going to make it in the future. Where he goes who knows, but what we do know is that the magic he brings to a soccer game will be with him no matter what.
Danish Superstar: Christian Eriksen
5 of 9To tell the truth, I've only heard of this youngster this year. He plays for Ajax and Denmark and has caught the attention of Arsenal and (especially) Liverpool. He has everything an attacking midfielder needs.
Even though he is small, he has pace, strength, vision, finesse and, most important of all, the kid has drive.
He's only 19 years of age and if he continues like this, expect to see him making headlines.
Romelu Lukaku: The Next Drogba
6 of 9Out of all the up-and-coming faces, Romelu Lukaku, in my opinion, is special. He is special because he is probably the only good center forward of them all.
Nowadays you have a lot of young talent that primarily plays winger or attacking mid. Lukaku plays as a traditional center forward who is good in the air and can hold the ball, involving the others in the attack—that is why people consider him to be the next Drogba, and I agree.
There have been rumors by The Guardian of him going to Chelsea and he is bound to do so. You can only imagine how much of a success he will be there.
Arsenal's Future: Jack Wilshere
7 of 9He has already broken into the first team this year and made his international debut with England, but what makes next year special is the fact that he will be used more often.
With Fabregas and Nasri slowly exiting the Emirates, Wilshere will be put in more dominant roles, like attacking midfielder instead of defensive midfielder (which he plays now).
The future looks bright for this lad.
German Playmaker: Mario Gotze
8 of 9This kid as the potential to be one of the best midfielders of all time. He plays for Borussia Dortmund and was instrumental to their title victory.
He also has the ability to play as a left winger when needed, as he played most of this season in that role.
Notable Mentions
9 of 9Souleymane Coulibaly—Siena (I didn't include him in this list because he has yet to prove himself and is too young.)
Gael Kakuta—Chelsea (He didn't have a great loan spell at Fulham.)
Federico Macheda—Manchester United (He played well for Manchester United, but didn't stand out in his loan spell for Sampdoria—he didn't score in his 14 games there.)
Josh McEachran—Chelsea (He wasn't consistent as he only played well with Chelsea during the first half of the season, when he played more.)
Philippe Coutinho—Inter Milan (He played very little at Inter Milan, so is still unproven.)
Jeffrey Bruma—Chelsea, on loan in Hamburg (He didn't play much for Chelsea, but might have a chance with Hamburg this campaign.)
