Chris Paul Trade Rumors: David Stern Must Trade CP3 Before He Takes Legal Action
Chris Paul is getting fed up with NBA commissioner David Stern, the apparent owner and GM of the New Orleans Hornets.
He’s actually so frustrated with how things have gone with his request to be traded that he feels his only reasonable option left is to take the league to court, according to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News.
Stern has gone crazy over the past few months and continues to show that he has lost his way with the league in his handling of the lockout and now the CP3 trade fiasco.
Paul is understandably fuming about what has happened. Wouldn’t you go to court if your career was meddled with like this?
Stern initially nixed a perfectly fair three-way trade that would have sent the star PG to the Lakers, Pau Gasol to the Rockets and a number of All-Stars and young pieces to the Hornets.
The Clippers then made a run at Paul, but Stern legitimately demanded every single valuable asset they had except Blake Griffin. He honestly asked for Eric Bledsoe, Al Farouq-Aminu, Chris Kaman, Eric Gordon and the Timberwolves' 2012 first-round draft choice.
Is the commish kidding?
If any real GM asked for all of those pieces for a star that has had injury problems in his short career and only has two-years—tops—left on his contract, they would be laughed at and hung-up on.
CP3 is now considering filing a case that alleges collusion and a hindering of his ability to earn a living. If things don’t change in the next couple of days, he in all likelihood will take action.
Stern needs to get his head out of the sand before another damaging PR nightmare rocks the NBA in the form of a drawn-out lawsuit involving one of their superstars against them.
He must reopen negotiations with the Lakers and Clippers and any other team that may be interested in Paul and get something done in the very near future.
If Stern doesn’t get a trade through for Paul, the league will be dealing with imminent disaster when the case goes to court.
