NBA Trade Rumors: David Stern Continues to Destroy Future of New Orleans Hornets
The New Orleans Hornets were bought up by the NBA in the hopes of saving them until another buyer would come along. David Stern is making sure that no team remains to be sold.
The Hornets have just one issue worth worrying about, and it's the one we are all tired of hearing. Chris Paul is leaving the Hornets. There is nothing that you, nor I, nor David Stern can do to stop it.
Yet, the NBA that owns this team is stepping in to ensure that nothing comes back in return for one of the best guards leaving in just a few months.
ESPN's Marc Stein and Chris Broussard team up for an assessment on all things Chris Paul right now.
"Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers balked when the Hornets, at the league's insistence, asked for Clippers shooting guard Eric Gordon, youngsters Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe, former All-Star center Chris Kaman and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round draft pick.
Sources said one of the wrinkles added to the deal in Tuesday's talks involved the inclusion of Clippers point guard Mo Williams going to the league-owned Hornets in a swap for swingman Trevor Ariza, an L.A. native.
"
So it seems that league is going to pigeon-hole this franchise into being the most ridiculously stubborn trade partners in NBA history.
Do you have a sensible and fair trade? Tough, the league will force the Hornets to balk at such things. After the Lakers swing-and-miss attempt at Paul, Stern and his cronies are sure to dig in their heels as not to seem anti-Laker in this post-voided CP3 trade NBA.
What's more is that the Lakers are lingering in the background as possible suitors for Paul. But that is a long shot considering they just gave up an asset in Lamar Odom for pittance.
The Hornets balked at a reasonable offer by the Clippers, and the smart thing to do for LA would be to get up from the table and walk away.
There is no need to negotiate with the unreasonable. The Hornets are damaged goods in respects to trade negotiations. That means Paul is destined to stay for a few months in a shortened season.
At that point he will walk and the Hornets will be drained of every last drip of star power. It will be at that point that David Stern's effect on the franchise on this team will really show through. They will be utterly destroyed.
