NBA Free Agent Rumors: Jamal Crawford Will Be Great Addition to New York Knicks
After the New York Knicks' additions of Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby, rumors have surfaced from the New York Post that Jamal Crawford may be returning to Madison Square Garden in a three-team sign and trade deal as well.
Crawford has amassed an incredible amount of buzzer-beating moments over his entire career, and many of them have come while he was wearing the orange and blue.
With the best "closer" in the game in Carmelo Anthony and a blitzing behemoth in the paint with Amar'e Stoudemire already, the addition of Crawford makes the Knicks virtually unguardable.
Anthony will certainly be the first option for them, but as Crawford has consistently proven, the time when he becomes most valuable is in the closing seconds of a game.
With his killer crossover and majestic off-balance shooting accuracy, Crawford has become unstoppable in the closing minutes, and the fact that Anthony will be on the floor as well, will only make Crawford's life easier when he gets the ball in the final ticks of a contest.
Defenses will be scrambling at the end of games, since they will have to essentially "pick their poison" of who to guard between Anthony, Stoudemire and Crawford.
To a lesser extent, Chandler makes an excellent alley-oop option for a quick two, and Bibby has the range to knock down the long ball with precision when needed as well.
While the rest of the NBA is scrambling to acquire superstars Chris Paul and/or Dwight Howard, the Knicks wisely assessed their chances of doing so, and realized that building around the two superstars they have in place was more realistic.
With all of the great moments that Crawford had when he played for the Knicks his first time around, there's no doubt that his return would be welcomed with open arms, while also giving D'Antoni's offense some more firepower off the bench.
Although they have already added savvy veterans Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby, the Knicks still believe that the addition of Crawford would give the New York faithful its best chance at winning an NBA championship.
