NFL Rumors: Cowboys Not Interested in Randy Moss, but Should They Be?
The Dallas Cowboys have apparently said they have no interest in signing the semi-retired Randy Moss. Given their long-term vision for the wide receiver position, that makes complete sense.
ESPN's Adam Schefter set off a bit of an Internet blaze on Sunday when he tweeted that Moss was open to returning to a winning team with a seasoned quarterback. Schefter went on to say that the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears could interest him.
Despite the fact that the Cowboys' top receiver Miles Austin is currently out with a hamstring injury and Dez Bryant has been struggling through a thigh injury, Moss wouldn't be the answer for Dallas. Early in the season, they made a commitment to focus on Austin and Bryant as the team's top wideouts, with youngsters Kevin Ogletree and Jessee Holley backing them up. Bringing in Moss would only stunt the growth of the rest of the receiving corps.

Besides that, Dallas is currently 2-2 and is already facing tons of heat in the press for the play of quarterback Tony Romo. While he does deserve flak for essentially handing away two wins so far this year, Romo certainly doesn't need another personality to deal with on the roster. If Moss couldn't keep his mouth shut while playing for the New England Patriots, there is no way he'd bite his tongue if Romo threw a game away.
While the Cowboys haven't looked great this season, adding Moss to the mix wouldn't be a solution to the team's problems. They are smart to squash talk of bringing him in right away.
