WWE Money in the Bank Results: 7 Huge New Rivalries We Could See Going Forward
At last night's Money in the Bank pay-per-view, history was certainly made in being more than likely the show of the year, even outlasting WrestleMania 27 itself. The July event not only lived up to many's expectations, but exceeded them, with mine included.
In what seemed to be a show where the internet fans's prayers were finally answered, viewers were treated to two breath-taking, exciting Money in the Bank Ladder Matches from both shows. Although Alberto Del Rio was the favorite going in, many fans were surprised to see the IWC favorite Daniel Bryan take home the opportunistic briefcase, giving him a World Championship Match at a time of his choosing for up to a year.
Also included, Mark Henry picked up a rather shocking win over his nemesis, Big Show, in a rather dominant fashion, cementing his stature as one of the WWE's hottest heels today. Kelly Kelly obviously walked out with her championship still intact, while Christian won his second World Championship via disqualification from Randy Orton, only to be treated with a double dose of RKOs following the contest.
However, the best was yet to come, as the climax of the evening kicked off in the main event with John Cena defending his WWE Championship against the departing CM Punk, with Cena's career at stake as well. Shockingly, they provided a thirty minute wrestling match, where we saw even the Chairman himself, Mr. McMahon, make an appearance.
When the smoke cleared, it was the Straightedge Savior who pinned the Champ to walk out of his hometown of Chicago as the new WWE Champion, leaving a stunned McMahon by ring-side. Even Alberto Del Rio attempted to cash in on the weakened Punk, only to be ambushed and left stunned in the ring with McMahon.
Overall, it was by far the most suspenseful, exciting, and well-structured shows of the year, a night that left fans ecstatic and with more questions than answers. As SummerSlam approaches, what new rivalries can we see continue or develop towards the biggest blockbuster of the summer?

Christian vs. Daniel Bryan
1 of 7Per the stipulation, Christian was crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion following Randy Orton's kick to the groin, causing himself to be disqualified. Following the match, Orton lashed out in a fit of rage, delivering two RKOs to Captain Charisma on the commentating table, leading me to think this rivalry will continue.
Only two hours earlier, IWC favorite Daniel Bryan shockingly was the one to unhook the Money in Bank briefcase in the opening match, outlasting seven other hungry competitors in what was a spot-heavy contest. With this victory, Bryan has earned a guaranteed World Championship match at a time and place of his choosing for up to a year.
I do expect Christin to resume his rivalry with Orton leading into SummerSlam, hopefully ending it once and for all with a victory to retain the championship. Also, I'd love to see a feud between Bryan and former Nexus leader Wade Barrett for the time being, since he was the last man standing before Bryan won the contest.
However, a rivalry with Bryan cashing in his championship match at SummerSlam to face Christian would be one hell of match, similar to how Rob Van Dam cashed in against John Cena five years ago. The American Dragon could cash in an opportunistic fashion similar to the past winners, but I believe announcing it before hand could generate more buys than another match between Orton and Christian for the fifth time.
Kelly Kelly vs. Eve
2 of 7Over the last two months, Kelly Kelly has been engaged in an on-going rivalry with the Bella Twins over the Divas Championship. Last night, the feud was finalized with Kelly's successful title defense against Brie Bella in a predictable lackluster match.
During this feud, Eve has accompanied and aided Kelly Kelly during her matches to counterpart Nikki Bella at ringside. Wouldn't it be about time Eve become to grow jealous of Kelly's recent success?
Now, I'm not calling for an Eve heel turn, but it's about time we get some true Diva wrestlers back in the title picture. Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, and Melina have all seemed to quickly fade out, leaving the former champ Eve to be the only true contender to the title.
Obviously, we aren't expecting a five-star match from Kelly Kelly anytime soon, but it would be much better than her current feud with the Bellas or the random matches WWE usually gives the division during the summer season.
The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio
3 of 7During last night's RAW version of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, The Miz fell from a 20-foot ladder at the hands of Alberto Del Rio, crashing to the mat and causing officials to guide him to the back. However, towards the end of the contest, Miz returned limping to the ring to a great pop, hopping up the ladder to retrieve the briefcase for a second time.
Unfortunately for the Awesome One, Rey Mysterio crushed his dreams by power bombing Miz from the ladder and down to the mat, leaving the Ultimate Underdog to climb the ladder himself. Mysterio would go on to come up short to the eventual winner, Alberto Del Rio, following his mask being removed from his face.
With Miz's feud with his former apprentice, Alex Riley, slowly coming to an end, I'd expect something new and fresh for Miz going into this year's SummerSlam. If you haven't noticed, Miz hasn't won a match in nearly three months, so he desperately needs a meaningful rivalry to get him back on track.
Miz can attack Mysterio tonight on RAW, blaming him for preventing him from winning last night's Ladder match. These two have yet to cross paths in a true feud, so it could give both men something to do for the next while.
Being at the twilight of his career, I'd fully expect Miz to go over if the feud were to come to fruition. The match itself could be great if given enough time to shine at the biggest blockbuster of the summer.
Sheamus vs. Sin Cara
4 of 7Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, the hottest new Superstar Sin Cara faced off against the menacing Sheamus in an advantage challenge match heading into last night's pay-per-view. Using some of Rey Mysterio's old underdog tactics, Sin Cara was able to pick up the victory over the Celtic Warrior.
Fast forward 48 hours later, both men find themselves competing in the vicious SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Halfway through the match, Sheamus delivered a brutal power-bomb to Sin Cara off the ring apron and through a ladder, causing officials to stretcher Sin Cara to the back.
As you may know by now, Sin Cara was suspended this morning for 30 days due to violating WWE's Wellness Policy. The angle was put in place to write off Sin Cara for the time being, hopefully foreshadowing this potential rivalry.
If you can recall, it was Sheamus who was ambushed by Sin Cara on his debut night a few months ago. Adding that to his embarrassing loss last week, the former WWE Champion has a score to settle with Sin Cara upon his return.
Mark Henry vs. Ezekiel Jackson
5 of 7At last month's Capitol Punishment event, the heated rivalry between Big Show and Mark Henry kicked off, with Henry ambushing Show before his match that would lead a series of attacks over the World's Largest Athlete in the following weeks. Last night, Henry picked up in what was a shocking victory over Big Show in a decent match, causing Show to be stretched out due his sustained injury.
Okay, so this isn't a new rivalry, but hear me out before you begin your hateful comments. I never believed the feud would go as far as making Henry looking more dominant than ever with his huge victory, so congrats for Show for putting Henry over in the fashion he did.
With what transpired last night, I'd expect to see the feud between the two Goliaths continue, but I'm afraid it will just lead to Henry jobbing and putting over Show as always. WWE has a real monster on their hands with Henry, hopefully they can capitalize and keep him looking strong until a rising star can finally beat him, such as Sin Cara or Daniel Bryan.
For the time being, I'd love to see the inevitable feud between the World's Strongest Man and Ezekiel Jackson take place over the Intercontinental Championship. Sure, they aren't the quickest workers, but it would sure be an interesting clash of similar styles and chemistry.
Jackson needs a credible contender for the belt to actually mean something, and I believe Mark Henry fits that exact bill.
Randy Orton vs. Kane
6 of 7In a strange turn of events, Kane brought back his crazed persona last week on SmackDown, challenging former World Champion Randy Orton to a match in order to get back on track. Oddly enough, the match ended in minutes due Orton's count-out, only for the Viper to get the better of Kane by attacking him with a chair following the bout.
Although the contest was brief, it saves the real, strong match for a later date, as they have the potential to provide us with a solid match. Both have similar mind-sets in the ring, with demented characters that seem to be only looking out for themselves.
Orton's ambush on the Big Red Monster seemed only to be in purpose of threatening Christian, but it could also foreshadow a future feud between the two. With Orton no longer holding World Title, it would be an interesting, fresh feud for both men, despite the fact if they're both face.
CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio
7 of 7Let me start off by reiterating the fact that last night's main event is a strong candidate for Match of the Year, due to the hot crowd, surprises and exciting moments behind it all. It served its purpose in creating a huge cliffhanger for tonight's RAW broadcast, which is the perfect formula for bringing in ratings.
With CM Punk's future with the WWE still in question, I believe Punk will make one last appearance tonight after what transpired last night at the pay-per-view. I'd love to see him defend the title against Cena in a rematch at SummerSlam, but the smarter route would be building towards the anticipated rivalry between Cena and Alberto Del Rio in the meantime.
Creative has been planning it for months, and entering Del Rio in the main event picture now would be perfect timing. Having the two feud now could possibly set up a future feud with CM Punk upon his return, with even a new belt being introduced in the process.
A triple threat involving all three men is always possible, but I'd expect Punk to take the time off he promised he would. The angle is hotter than ever, and the WWE Championship has never felt more prestigious in years.
Thanks for reading, Bleachers, and make sure to drop a comment on other fresh, new rivalries you think could make WWE even more compelling. GSM out.
