NBA Draft 2011: Lamar Odom and 10 Veterans Who Could Be Traded on Draft Day

Joe IannelloJun 23, 2011

The 2011 NBA Draft is finally here and trade rumors are surfacing faster than mock draft's at this point.

Some of the biggest names in the game have been involved in trade rumors for the past month, and there is no doubt that tonight's draft will be filled with trades.

Which players are on the trading block and who will actually be moved?

Here are the 10 veterans who could be traded on draft day.

10: Andre Iguodala

1 of 10

This may finally be the night that Andre Iguodala is traded from the Philadelphia 76ers. Iguodala is one of the best perimeter defenders in the game.

He has a long wingspan, incredible athleticism and is one of the best dunkers in the NBA today.

Iguodala has been rumored in a plethora of trades this offseason and you'd have to think that the veteran out of the University of Arizona may finally be shipped out of Philadelphia.

Iguodala has been involved in trades with Monta Ellis, Chris Kaman, Lamar Odom and others in just the past few weeks.

The 76ers are a young and exciting team that need a prime-time scorer in return for one of the best on-ball defenders in the game today.

9: Tony Parker

2 of 10

Tony Parker trade rumors have been swirling for the past two weeks, and the San Antonio Spurs front-office finally tried to silence the talk by denying that their star is being shopped.

Would anyone really be surprised if one of the oldest teams in the NBA moved their best trade chip to move into the top five of the NBA draft?

The Spurs need to get younger and more athletic to return to NBA glory and Tony Parker is the guy that will net the largest reward.

8: Monta Ellis

3 of 10

Monta Ellis is one of the most underrated players in the NBA today. CBSSports.com's Ken Berger reported that the Golden State Warriors have talked to multiple teams about moving their star 2-guard Monta Ellis.

Ellis would be a great pickup by any team that needs scoring. He can create his own shot against any defender, and  he averaged over 24 points a game the last two seasons.

Golden State on the other hand needs defense, so a trade for Ellis makes a lot of sense from their perspective as well.

They surrendered over 105 points a game last year, which was good (bad?) for fourth worst in the league.

7: Chris Kaman

4 of 10

The NBA lacks players that present a low-post presence these days. Chris Kaman is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, evidenced by his 12.4 points per game, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.

Kaman is indeed a low-post presence. The Clippers have stated that the only scenario that would convince them to part with the All-star Chris Kaman, is getting an elite small forward in return.

Could Kaman be moved for one of the players on this list?

6: O.J. Mayo

5 of 10

The Memphis Grizzlies tried to trade O.J. Mayo at the trade deadline to the Indiana Pacers for Josh McRoberts, but they turned in their paperwork a few minutes too late. Maybe the Grizzlies should trade Mayo for a new secretary.

Mayo is still a tremendous talent (former first-team all-rookie) that has averaged 16 points per game over his career. He has obviously worn out his welcome in Memphis, but one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Mayo still has the potential to be an elite-scorer in the NBA, and could be the difference-maker a contender needs to win it all.

5: Josh Smith

6 of 10

Trade rumors have been buzzing lately with Josh Smith potentially on the trade block.

Why would the Atlanta Hawks move one of their best players? Well, they have huge contracts on the books with Joe Johnson (six years, $124 million) and Al Horford (five years, $60 million), and will they be able to keep Smith's hefty contract as well?

Smith is still under contract for three years and $37 million, but he is the one chip that the Atlanta Hawks would be able to move for some cap relief.

4: Steve Nash

7 of 10

There have been a myriad of reports that the Phoenix Suns would indeed trade the face of their franchise in Steve Nash to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the chance to take Derrick Williams with the number two pick.

Steve Nash wants to play for a title contender so a move to the Timberwolves doesn't make much sense, but don't discredit the fact that Nash was on the trading block.

A team that has a legitimate shot at a world title would love to add one of the best point-guards in the game to their arsenal.

3: Glen Davis

8 of 10

Glen Davis has told reporters that he wants a bigger role with the Boston Celtics or he wants to be traded. Careful what you wish for Big Baby.

Davis will certainly be a hot commodity amongst NBA teams looking for an inside presence, and the Celtics will look to trade Davis and get younger in the process.

Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce can't play forever.

2: Raymond Felton

9 of 10

There is no question that Ty Lawson is the man at the point for the Denver Nuggets. It only makes sense that the Nuggets would look to move Raymond Felton before he becomes a free-agent after this season.

Felton has made it clear that he wants to be a starter and the Nuggets will use that to their advantage on draft night.

1: Lamar Odom

10 of 10

It seems like Lamar Odom is another player that lands on the trade block every season, so maybe it makes sense that he would be moved for Andre Iguodala.

Odom is set to earn $8 million in 2011, but he will become a free agent at the end of the season. The 76ers would love to acquire an expiring contract with the loaded free agent class of 2012 on the horizon.

Odom does not only provide salary relief to whatever team acquires him, but also a veteran presence that can score in a lot of ways and is a winner.

The Lakers were embarrassed in the playoffs and Lamar Odom is the trade chip they have to not allow that to happen again.
