NBA Draft 2011: The Top 50 Prospects' Report Cards, Pre-NBA Lottery Update
The 2011 NBA draft lottery will be held tomorrow evening. After all the Ping-Pong balls are plucked, we'll finally have the official order of June's draft.
You can find the official lottery odds here. The team with the best shot at the top overall pick is the Minnesota Timberwolves. After them are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards.
Once we know the order of the draft, it will be a lot easier to guess where these prospects will land. Here are the top 50 prospects in this year's class, complete with report cards...

50. Ben Hansbrough
1 of 51
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 203 lbs.
Position: PG/SG
Age: 23
Comparison: Luke Ridnour/Tyler Hansbrough
Hansbrough was the Big East Player of the Year, but he's not getting much, if any, attention as an NBA prospect.
He'll be a very mature rookie, with great leadership qualities. He works and plays extremely hard and with a ton of intensity.
He could be a low-risk selection in the second round. One can only hope the Pacers take him with the 42nd pick so we can see some pick-and-rolls with the Hansbrough brothers.
He's a bit like Luke Ridnour in terms of size and game, but his fiery demeanor is very much like his brother Tyler's.

49. Jeremy Tyler
2 of 51

Weight: 245 lbs.
Position: PF/C
Age: 19
Comparison: DeMarcus Cousins
Tyler is on a strange path into the NBA after forgoing his senior year of high school to play professionally overseas.
It probably wasn't the best decision, as he apparently lacked the maturity to handle life in Europe as a professional basketball player.
He was always on his coaches' bad sides and struggled to get on the floor much.
Had he gone the traditional route and attended his senior year of high school and at least one year in college, he might have been a lottery pick by the time he entered the draft.
As things stand now, he's likely to get selected somewhere in the middle of the second round.

48. Jereme Richmond
3 of 51
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 205 lbs.
Position: SF
Age: 19
Comparison: Corey Brewer
Most scouts felt Richmond needed at least one more year in college to develop a better jump shot and an NBA body.
He's in the mix for this draft after just one season at Illinois. In just over 20 minutes a game, he averaged 7.6 points and five rebounds.
Some feel he might still sneak into the first round because of his length and athleticism. As far as NBA readiness goes, he has a lot of work to do.

Age: 22
Comparison: Mike Dunleavy/Grant Hill
Singler came back to Duke this year to win a second national championship. He didn't, and he may have hurt his draft stock in the process.
Pretty much across the board, his stats dipped a bit, and he didn't look nearly as consistent this year as he had in the past.
Rest assured, I didn't compare him to Dunleavy just because they're both white and played at Duke.
They actually have very similar bodies and numbers. Krzyzewski recruits players to fit his system and these two had the same role.

Age: 22
Comparison: Ben Gordon/Kyle Lowry
Despite his shaky NCAA title game (one of the only players from that night who could be categorized as anything other than terrible), Mack has solidified his status as a legitimate pro prospect.
He's a big-time shooter, handles well and plays really strong for his position.
Right now, he doesn't really have a true point guard's mentality, but he's probably too small to be an elite shooting guard. Sounds a bit like Ben Gordon to me.
He's demonstrated that he has solid instincts and works hard. Those are two of the traits that helped Landry Fields be successful.

45. Scotty Hopson

Position: SG/SF
Age: 21
Comparison: Trevor Ariza
Hopson was one of the most sought-after high school recruits back in 2008. He was the ninth-ranked recruit in the country.
As is the case with plenty of high-profile high school players, a lot of the luster wears off in college. That doesn't always mean the player didn't deserve the recognition he got in high school. Sometimes a player can just find himself in the wrong situation.
If Hopson can live up to the hype that surrounded him back in '08, he could become a solid NBA player. He's a great scorer, but he needs to polish just about every aspect of his game.

Comparison: Kevin Love
Don't read too much into the comparison to Kevin Love. I see Vucevic being a good rebounder, but he's not on Love's level.
The comparison makes sense when you consider their size, fundamentals and range.
He averaged 17 and 10 as a junior at USC and could immediately step in and contribute for a lot of teams picking in the second round.
One of his most underrated qualities is his length. At 6'10", he may be a bit short for a center. His 7'4" wingspan should help him against taller players.

Comparison: Ty Lawson
The biggest knock on Thomas last season was that he had too much of a score-first mentality. His assist average nearly doubled this year, and he still can't totally shake that label.
This year he averaged 17 points and six assists a game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range.
He demonstrated great leadership ability, athleticism and hit some clutch shots for the Washington Huskies. He has the potential to be a great sleeper pick in the second round.

Norris Cole plays in a very small conference, so he's been almost entirely under the radar during his four-year college career.
Even though he didn't face the best competition, his numbers are worth mentioning. As a senior, he averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists a game.
The jump from the Horizon League to the NBA will be tough, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Cole develop into a solid player at the next level.

Because of his solid play overseas, Bogdanovic has generated a decent amount of buzz heading into this year's draft. Some mocks even have him going in the first round.
He's a solid all-around player who does just about everything well, but not really anything great.
Plus, he's said to lack NBA-level elite athleticism. Despite that, his fundamentally well-rounded game could get help him be effective at this level.

Over the last couple years, McCamey has put up some great assist numbers (6.1 per game this year and 7.1 last year). And this year, he's added a three-point shot (45 percent from three-point range).
He's a great distributor, and his size and strength make him comparable to Williams and Kidd.
If he does last until the second round, he could be a steal for a team like the Los Angeles Lakers who desperately need to upgrade at point guard.

Benson is a solid all-around player with good size and skills. He's long, rebounds, defends very well and can knock down jump shots.
His numbers as a senior were stellar. He averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game. Plus, he shot 55 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range.
He may never be a star at the next level, but in a league almost devoid of elite centers, he could easily develop into a starter.

To call Nogueira raw would be an understatement. He has a special set of natural tools, but has a ton of room to improve on his skills.
His length (7'6" wingspan) and athleticism could help him become an impact player on defense within his first few years in the league.
If he gets selected in the first round (or even early second), that selection will be based almost entirely on potential.

Chandler Parsons is one of the smartest players in the draft, but he almost certainly won't be selected in the first round because scouts have questioned his attitude at times.
He's a great passer and rebounder for a wing, and he's also demonstrated the ability to knock down threes. Like Hayward and Fields, he needs to get more aggressive with his own shot selection.
There are a few teams picking in the early part of the second round that need a small forward, and Parsons would have an outside shot starting for any of them (Nets, Clippers and Wizards).

Purdue got knocked out in its second game of the tourney, but you can't blame Johnson. He scored 41 points and grabbed 30 rebounds in those two contests.
He had a great season at Purdue, and his solid all-around game could help him stay in the league for a while.
He's shown great athleticism and a decent midrange game all year. In a best-case scenario, he could develop into a player like Stoudemire. Or, he could be a career backup like Hakim Warrick.

Thompkins is a solid all-around big who can play inside and out.
He has a decent handle on the ball, rebounds and defends well and has a very nice jump shot for a 6'10" big man.
He can add size and versatility to a team and there are several organizations that would love to add those things.

Travis Leslie is a bit undersized, but he may be one of the most athletic shooting guards in the draft.
That athleticism has led to plenty of highlight-reel dunks over the course of his career at Georgia. Plus, it's helped him become a fantastic rebounder for a 6'4" player (7.2 a game).
His body and athleticism are a lot like those of Tony Allen.

Leuer moves, shoots and handles the ball from the perimeter better than any big man in this class. Just watch the video at the bottom of this slide to see how he operates like a guard.
The reason for Leuer's smooth game: he played guard for most of his high school career. An insane 10-inch growth spurt prior to his senior year moved him to the post.
He could cause matchup problems for a lot of the league's big men next year.

In terms of his size, body type and the way he plays right around the rim, Williams is very reminiscent of the kind of player Gasol was a couple years ago.

It seems like people are looking for the next Dirk Nowitzki every year. Unfortunately, that has led to a lot of Nikoloz Tskitishvilis.
That's sort of the best-case/worst-case scenario for Mirotic.
Talent-wise, he could very well be a first-round pick this year. However, he does have some contract issues that would make a lot of teams hesitant to select him.

Darius Morris may be the best true point guard in this year's draft class. He's a bit turnover prone, but he definitely looked for his teammates more than most players.
He's a solid athlete, leader and defender. On top of that, his size will help him against most of the league's point guards.

Height: 6'6"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Position: SG
Age: 19
Comparison: Brandon Roy
Alec Burks is my dark horse for 2012 Rookie of the Year (for a lot of the same reasons I thought Brandon Roy would win it).
He's a very polished, complete scorer. He has a prototypical NBA shooting guard's build. He's long and athletic. In addition to being a great scorer, he does just about everything else well, too.

10. Tristan Thompson
41 of 51
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Position: PF
Age: 20
Comparison: Brandon Bass
First he was in the draft, then he was out. Now he's back in. If his status stays the same, he'll almost certainly be a lottery pick.
Thompson is a bit undersized for an NBA big man, but he has a wingspan (7'2") that makes up for his lack of standing height.
He plays hard, and that helps him on defense and on the offensive glass.
He still has to work on his perimeter game a bit, but that will come in time. If he can develop a reliable midrange jumper, he could become very effective.

9. Kawhi Leonard
42 of 51
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Position: SF/PF
Age: 19
Comparison: Shawn Marion/Gerald Wallace
Kawhi Leonard is anything but polished on offense, but his athleticism, intensity and defensive prowess could get him drafted in the lottery.
Plus, he's an elite rebounder for a 6'7" player (he averaged nearly 11 a game this year).
If he plays with a great distributor like Shawn Marion did for much of his career, he could put up some solid numbers.

8. Jimmer Fredette
43 of 51
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Position: PG/SG
Age: 22
Comparison: Stephen Curry/Deron Williams
Fredette put up huge numbers in the tournament, but he missed a lot of shots in BYU's loss to Florida.
His critics focus on his 11-of-29 shooting and ignore some good things he showed.
The experts have been telling us all year that Jimmer wouldn't be able to get his own shot off against quicker defenders, but he blew by Florida's Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker whenever he wanted to.
Then he showed the ability to finish over legitimate big men. If only someone on BYU's coaching staff could have compelled him to keep attacking, the result of that game may have been different.
The legitimate question mark on Fredette has to do with defense. I'm not sure if he can guard anyone at the next level, but that's the same thing all the experts said about Steve Nash when he entered the league.

7. Bismack Biyombo
44 of 51
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 243 lbs.
Position: PF/C
Age: 18
Comparison: DeJuan Blair/Ben Wallace
Biyombo has burst onto the scene of this draft class in the last couple weeks.
He's come out of nowhere to become a very legitimate first-round possibility.
He's long (7'7" wingspan) and athletic, but like most 18-year-old prospects, he is very raw.

6. Jan Vesely
45 of 51
Height: 6'11"
Weight: 240 lbs.
Position: PF/SF
Age: 20
Comparison: Tyrus Thomas/Andrei Kirilenko
Vesely has great size and length for a small forward, but he's still very unpolished at this point. He needs a lot of work on his post offense.
From the perimeter, he's actually pretty solid for a player his size. He handles and shoots the ball well.
Right now, it's tough to see exactly what position he'll play in the NBA. If he adds some strength, he could eventually play center.

5. Kemba Walker
46 of 51
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 172 lbs.
Position: PG/SG
Age: 20
Comparison: Brandon Jennings/Ben Gordon
Kemba Walker led his Huskies on one of the most ridiculous runs in the history of college basketball. He did so with more than just his scoring.
He's a solid distributor, an underrated rebounder and he works hard on defense.
On the season, he averaged 23.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
He's not a very efficient scorer (43 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range), but he has a hunger that may be unparalleled in this draft class.
He's proven to be a great leader, and his success in March and April could very well get him drafted in the top five.

4. Brandon Knight
47 of 51
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Position: PG/SG
Age: 18
Comparison: Tyreke Evans/Jason Terry
John Calipari has sent four freshmen point guards to the NBA in the last three years. Athletically, Knight is similar to those guys, but he's a better outside shooter than any of them.
He really showed off that ability against North Carolina in the Elite Eight.
Knight's stock has been rising steadily over the last couple weeks.

3. Enes Kanter
48 of 51
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 255 lbs.
Position: PF/C
Age: 18
Comparison: Luis Scola
We didn't get a chance to see Kanter at all this year because he played professional basketball overseas before he came to play for Kentucky.
Even still, it looks like he's almost a lock to be selected in the top 10 of this year's draft.
Think of him as a longer, more athletic version of Luis Scola.

2. Kyrie Irving
49 of 51
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Position: PG
Age: 19
Comparison: Chris Paul
A lot of people are ranking Irving as the top overall prospect right now.
While I realize he has the potential to be great, I've got him at No. 2 for one reason—point guards have not been hard to come by lately.
Over the last few years, several players with starting point guard talent have been drafted, and there are a few more this year.
A lot of teams are building around point guards right now, and I don't think it would be a bad decision to take him first overall—but there's one prospect that I'd select before him.

1. Derrick Williams
50 of 51
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 241 lbs.
Position: SF/PF
Age: 19
Comparison: Michael Beasley/Thaddeus Young
Derrick Williams officially became a legitimate top overall pick possibility after he thrashed Duke.
In that game, he scored 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting (including 5-of-6 threes) and grabbed 13 rebounds.
That was his signature game, but he's been nothing short of spectacular all season long.
For the year, he averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds a game. Plus, he shot 60 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.
He's athletic, smart, has a great attitude and is extremely versatile.
