Getting in the WrestleMania Spirit! Part 7: WrestleMania Moments! (With Facts!)
This is a multiple part slideshow series I will be writing here on Bleacher Report to get all of you Bleachers in the WrestleMania Spirit! I really just want to do something creative to get you guys flamed up once a month in anticipation for this year’s WrestleMania.
Since WrestleMania is just in a couple of hours, like I've said in my previous slideshows, this will be my last installment in this series. If you want to view one of my previous slideshow(s), please click on the links below. If not, keep on reading! Let’s get started on this!
WrestleMania moments. It's what's on every single superstar's mind at this very moment, since it is only a couple of hours away. Not only today; this very thing has been on the minds of thousands of wrestlers and entertainers who have had the pleasure to perform at a WrestleMania.
Some succeeded, while some didn't. Creating a WrestleMania moment gives a wrestler to be immortal. When they pass on to the next generation, even if they pass away, these WrestleMania moments will be all we will have as Wrestling fan's to remember their legendary legacy.
So, in the final installment of this series, it is only fitting that I write about WrestleMania moments, when we are just hours away from witnessing them. In this slideshow, I will be going to each and every WrestleMania in history in a chronological order, and listing a specific WrestleMania moment that occurred at that very WrestleMania.
I'll even throw in some facts that you may or may not know.
So, without further ado, let's get started in the final installment of my "Getting In The WrestleMania Spirit" Series!
WrestleMania: All the Celebrity Involvement
1 of 27
One of the highlights of this WrestleMania was, of course, the great celebrity involvement it contained. From Muhammad Ali to Wendi Richter, there was a TON of celebrities involved in the Mania.
We had a glaring encounter between Mr. T and Roddy Piper, as well as Roddy Piper and Muhammad Ali.
I know I may be starting on a weak note here, but the WrestleMania moment's from the inaugural WrestleMania was indeed the celebrities themselves.
They would pave the way for other famous individuals such as Floyd Mayweather, Snooki and Mickey Rourke to actually come to WrestleMania and take part themselves. This was the start of it all, and the celebrities should definitely be given a place in WrestleMania moment history.
Did you know?
This WrestleMania is the only one in history to not feature a World Title bout. Many people also consider that had the inaugural WrestleMania not had heavy celebrity involvement, it would not have existed today as it would not have received the wide-spread fame that it did.
WrestleMania 2: Roddy Piper Bodyslam's Mr.T...in a BOXING MATCH?!
2 of 27
I've never been a fan of boxing matches, or any other type of matches involving celebrities of any kinds at WrestleMania, when they don't know how to wrestle.
But in this case, I was. Only because this match had created a memory in my mind.
Mr. T and Roddy Piper were in a heated feud back in their days, and had a matchup to end it all at WrestleMania II. It led to a very poor excuse of a boxing match, but created a great moment.
In the midst of the match, Roddy Piper got sick of the boxing gloves on his hands, and straight up body-slammed Mr. T. I loved it back then, and I still love this moment to this very day.
Did you know?
The King Kong Bundy vs. Hulk Hogan match debuted the blue cage for the WWE. It is also the only Steel Cage match in WrestleMania history. Mr. T and Roddy Piper were also known to hate each other in real life. Roddy Piper has openly stated on various interviews that this is his worst match of all time.
WrestleMania III: Hogan Body Slams Andre: "He Slammed Him! I Don't Believe It!"
3 of 27
Another Body slam. But this one was just legendary. Go up to anyone on the street and ask "What is Wrestling?" and they'll reply with Hulk Hogan body slamming Andre the Giant in front of 93,173 people.
That very body slam would shake the foundation of the wrestling industry for years to come. People saw wrestling as something magical.
Not to mention, a moment was created that will never be forgotten in wrestling history.
I could go on and write a 500-page book on this body slam alone and how it affected the fans and wrestling industry, as it just holds that high of an importance in wrestling history.
Did you know?
Vince McMahon personally flew to France to meet Andre the Giant and begged him to face Hulk Hogan in order to sell out the Pontiac Silverdome. Also, during the match, Andre the Giant slipped and fell on Hulk Hogan for a near three count, almost having the shortest main event in WrestleMania history. Hulk Hogan also tore his biceps after he lifted Andre the Giant into a bodyslam. WrestleMania III set the highest indoor attendance record at the time with 93,173 people attending.
WrestleMania IV: Savage Wins the Title: "It's Over! We Have a New Champion!"
4 of 27
Randy Savage was a huge star in the WWE in the 1980s and 90s. So when Savage got the 1-2-3 on Ted DiBiase in the WWF Title Tournament final, it created a moment in history that some consider the greatest WrestleMania moment of all time.
Not to mention, Randy Savage had never broken through that little mid-card barrier, so it was a touching moment when Randy pinned DiBiase for the win.
Did you know?
Ted DiBiase was supposed to win the World Title at this event, leaving Macho Man Randy Savage to face off against Honky Tonk Man for the Intercontinental Title. However, Honky Tonk Man refused to job to Randy Savage, which led to WWE giving the WWE Title to Savage, and Ted DiBiase a spot in the main event. It was also know that Randy Savage was threatening to quit and was whining to the WWF because of a lack of a push he was receiving.
WrestleMania V: The Mega Powers Collide!
5 of 27
This was truly a WrestleMania main event. At the time, Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan were the two biggest stars in the WWF. Randy Savage had the title with a heel turn before WrestleMania, and Hogan was the baby-face challenger.
What's spectacular about this match however was the buildup. Hogan had actually helped Savage win the World Title a year prior when both were faces. They had tagged up together, and were known as the "Mega Powers" because...well..they truly were mega. They were truly the most powerful force in wrestling.
However, that changed when a combination of Hogan eliminating Savage from the Royal Rumble mistakenly, and Savage's incorrectly thinking that Hogan was in lust with Miss Elizabeth. This led to a battle of epic proportions at WrestleMania V, an encounter that will be immortal.
Did you know?
This event was held in the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City for a second year in a row. Trump Plaza would become the only venue in history to hold a WrestleMania twice in a row.
WrestleMania VI: "The Hulkster Just Took One Giant Step Towards Immortality!"
6 of 27It was rare that you would find Hogan actually hand the title to his opponent. In that case, it was rare that you would see Hogan job to anybody at all.
But this was still a great moment in wrestling history. It was a great "passing of the torch" moment, and the great embrace that Hogan and Warrior gave each other at the end of their unforgettable bout will live forever.
Did you know?
This was the first WrestleMania not held in the United States. It was held in Toronto, ON in Canada.
WrestleMania VII: Randy Savage Reunites with Miss Elizabeth
7 of 27
If you knew Randy Savage, you knew his beautiful escort named Miss Elizabeth. For the longest time, these two were inseparable on TV. When you saw Randy Savage, you saw Miss Elizabeth.
So when the power couple split up before WrestleMania V, one couldn't help but get sad and nostalgic, despite how big of a dick Macho Man was playing on TV.
When Randy Savage's career so-called "came to an end" at WrestleMania VII, he turned face and reunited with long-time on-screen girlfriend Miss Elizabeth in what was a very compelling moment.
Did you know?
The main event for this WrestleMania was originally scheduled to be the Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage for the WWF Title, where Savage was booked to win the title. Randy Savage, however, wanted to take time off of wrestling for a while, thus this match had become a retirement match.
Also, at this point in his career, Hulk Hogan was only willing to work with Sgt. Slaughter. So Vince had to beg Slaughter to come out of retirement to face Hogan for the title. The original venue for this WrestleMania was the LA Memorial Coliseum; however, a combination of rumors of security reasons and WWF unable to sell out the stadium changed the venue to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
WrestleMania VIII: The Ultimate Warrior Helps Hulk Hogan
8 of 27After experiencing the main event of Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior from WrestleMania VI, this was a great moment for a person to remember.
The Ultimate Warrior was off WWF Television for quite a while, so when he made his triumphant return saving Hulk Hogan from being beaten down at WrestleMania VIII by Sid Justice, me, among many other wrestling fans stood up in joy!
Did you know?
This original plan for this Mania was the dream match of Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan. Although, that never came into fruition because of the Hogan steroid scandal among other issues. When the main event of Flair/Savage was planned, It was reported that Ric Flair would retain the title. However, Savage refused to job to Flair, thus booking gave Savage the victory.
WrestleMania IX: Hulk Hogan Defeats the Evil Yokozuna
9 of 27Yokozuna came in the WWE as an unstoppable monster, and it seemed that at the time, nobody could beat him. Bret Hart was obviously the strong favorite going into WrestleMania, and when he lost, all hope seemed lost.
At that moment however, Hulk Hogan had came out to challenge the winner of the title match (like he said prior to the match). I don't even know if this was a necessary thing, but Hogan obviously won the title from Yokozuna, in a memory I will never forget.
At that point in history, people were getting over the really super heroic and cartoonish WWF superstars, so it was not a necessary move by the WWE. That being said, the minute Hogan dodged the salt and leg dropped Yokozuna for the 1-2-3, this became an instant WrestleMania moment.
Did you know?
WrestleMania IX was the first and only WrestleMania where the WWE title changed hands twice. It also has the shortest WWE Championship match (Yokozuna vs. Hulk Hogan) in WrestleMania history at 21 seconds.
WrestleMania X: Bad Blood- Owen Hart Defeats Bret Hart in a Match of a Lifetime
10 of 27
This is no doubt the greatest opening match of any PPV of all time. Owen and Bret battled it out on the squared circle infront of 20,000 people, in what is cosidered the epitome of story-telling in a match.
The great moment from this match came when Owen pinned Bret clean. Bret was no doubt the more popular Hart in Wrestling, and Owen was literally living in the shadow of his brother trying to surpass him, but a lot of time's he fell short.
When Owen got the win, I think it could be said that everybody who was watching it live or at home on pay-per-view got the biggest surprise of their life. Not to mention, one of the greatest WrestleMania match of all time, and also, one of the greatest WrestleMania moments of all time.
Did you know: One plan for this WrestleMania was Hulk Hogan vs. Bret Hart for the title, however those plans were scrapped because Hogan refused to drop a title to him, thinking he was not a big enough name. Afterwards, when Luger and Hart co-won the Royal Rumble, Luger was scheduled to win the title off Yokozuna and face Hart for the title later on the night. However, the night before WrestleMania, Lex went into a bar, got drunk, and told a reporter the entire plan of him winning the title at WrestleMania leading to the reporter publishing the story the next morning in a paper. After that, WWE booked Luger to lose against Yokozuna, and as a result, Hart would be the sole winner of the title at WrestleMania X.
WrestleMania XI: Lawrence Taylor Wrestles Against Bam Bam Bigelow....and WINS!??
11 of 27
As you can probably tell, I wasn't too thrilled with a football player being in the main event, especially being held in a spot more important than the Championship bout. The match wasn't as horrible as people thought it would be, but the conclusion was.
An NFL linebacker had defeated an actual WWF superstar. Unfortunately for the credibility of WWF wrestlers, this was a WrestleMania moment that would be well remembered for a good amount of time, and still is and will be.
Did you know?
This event has been called by many either "the worst WrestleMania of all time," or one that saved the WWF from their competition WCW from putting them out of business. Some also describe it as one of the greatest WrestleManias of all time. The original plan for this WrestleMania was to have Shawn Michaels win the title against Diesel. Vince McMahon reversed the decision because he thought that the fans would wreak havoc if a heel walked out champion at WrestleMania.
WrestleMania XII: IronMan: "The Boyhood Dream Has Come True for Shawn Michaels"
12 of 27This was downright emotional. I had followed Shawn Michaels career for a long time, and I had convinced myself that I was the biggest living Shawn Michaels fan on the planet.
Seeing him finally get to the top of the mountain was really a moving sight to see. Shawn Michaels had the look in his eye of finally reaching the big leagues after years of hard work in the industry.
Shawn winning the title represented everybody's boyhood dream, and gave the message to never give up no matter what until you've achieved your goal and lived your dream.
Did you know?
The original plan for one of the main events for this WrestleMania was Goldust vs. Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) and OJ Simpson vs. Roddy Piper. OJ Simpson, for whatever reason, refused the offer, and Scott Hall had been tested positive for drugs in his system which had him suspended shortly before WrestleMania XII. This left both Roddy Piper and Goldust without an opponent, so creative booked them both in the infamous Hollywood Backlot Brawl.
WrestleMania XIII: Blood Pours Down Austin's Face, "Austin Will Not Surrender!"
13 of 27
This was the creation of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Rarely do you find that a double-switch occurs in a match, and to be quite frank, I haven't seen it even been done to date with the exception of this Austin vs. Bret match.
Stone Cold lay on a pool of own blood in the sharpshooter just refusing to give up. He was battered, in tremendous pain, and bloodied but refusing to give up.
This was the defining moment for Stone Cold, and in my head, the first thing that pops up when I think Stone Cold Steve Austin is a picture of his blood pouring down his face writhing in pain, but Austin refusing to give up.
Did you know?
The original main event that was planned for this match was actually Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels for the second year in a row with Bret slated to win the title. However, Shawn refused to job to Bret and therefore came up with a story of "finding his smile" and the alleged fake knee injury he acquired on RAW and dropped the title. Also, Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin is known to be Stone Cold Steve Austin's favorite match.
WrestleMania XIV: Austin Wins the WWF Title: "The Austin Era Has Begun!"
14 of 27
Ever since the infamous "Austin 3:16" speech at the King of the Ring 1996, and the infamous submission match at WrestleMania 13, fans became crazy about Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Steve Austin was at the apex of his popularity, and it was obvious to the WWE that they needed to capitalize on his popularity and give Austin the biggest prize in professional wrestling at the grandest stage of 'em all.
After Austin defeated Shawn Michaels for the title, the image of Austin hoisting the WWF title on the ring post at the Boston Garden will be remembered as the greatest WrestleMania moment.
To make it all better, the greatest announcer of all time Jim Ross sat on commentary and quoted the famous "The Austin Era has began!"
Did you know?
Shawn Michaels was competing in this match with a broken back that he got two months prior at the Royal Rumble in a casket match with the Undertaker. Shawn was also visibly upset after the match during the post WrestleMania conference due to him jobbing to Stone Cold and losing the title. It was heavily reported that when Shawn was refusing to do the job for Austin at WrestleMania XIV, Undertaker apparently taped his fists up in front of Shawn and "persuaded" him to do what was right for business.
WrestleMania XV: End of the Corporation "Austin Wins! Austin Wins! Austin Wins!"
15 of 27
Austin was in a heated feud with Vince McMahon in the 1990s. The apex of it, however, came in 1999, where Austin had to chance to end the reign of the evil boss forever.
And he did. At WrestleMania XV, Austin did what we though "ended the corporation."
Although that was certainly not the case, it was still a big victory for Stone Cold over his arch-nemesis, one that will be remembered for a long time in history.
Did you know?
Back in the beginning of 1998, right after D-Generation X had formed in the WWE and been a huge hit, the really early plans for WrestleMania XV called for a bout between Triple H and Shawn Michaels for the title where Hunter would turn on D-X and go into the title chase. The huge rise of stars such as Steve Austin, the Rock and Shawn's back injury, however, changed those plans.
WrestleMania XVI: Fatal 4-Betray: "Vince McMahon Hit the Rock with the Chair!?"
16 of 27
A McMahon in every corner.
This was the Fatal 4-Way main-event match featuring Mick Foley, The Rock, The Big Show and Triple H, the WWF Champion. Linda was with Foley, Vince McMahon with The Rock, Big Show with Shane O' Mac, and naturally, Stephanie with Triple H.
It boiled down to Rocky and Triple H in the end with the next person to get the pin getting the belt. Shane McMahon was still there causing trouble despite the fact that the Big Show had been eliminated.
But the real shocker came when McMahon recovered and hit The Rock (the person he was supporting) with a steel chair. It was truly something unexpected and an unforgettable moment.
Did you know?
Had Stone Cold Steve Austin not have gotten injured, the original plan for the WWF title at the time of WrestleMania 2000 was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Big Show where Vince McMahon wanted to recreate Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan from 13 years prior at WrestleMania III. WrestleMania 2000 was also the first WrestleMania where the heel walked out with the WWE Championship.
WrestleMania XVII: End of Attitude, Stone Cold Steve Austin Wins the WWF Title
17 of 27
The end of an era. When Vince McMahon first came out to the ring, I just got extremely confused.
But when The Rock hit the People's Elbow on Stone Cold (at which point, I thought it was it) and Vince McMahon pulled The Rock off of Stone Cold, my facial expression was the very definition of "WTF just happened?"
Austin and McMahon were two totally opposite beings each despising the other, so what was this? Not only did McMahon cost The Rock the title, but he HELPED Austin WIN the title.
It was truly the end of the Attitude Era. The picture of Stone Cold and McMahon sharing a toast was etched into my mind forever.
Did you know?
This WrestleMania occurred just days after WWE bought out WCW, their competition for nearly seven years!
WrestleMania XVIII: A Battle of the Ages: Hulk Hogan and The Rock
18 of 27
The dream match. This is what everybody ordered WrestleMania XVIII for (including me). It was a battle of epic proportions, and perhaps the most anticipated match of all time.
These two completely manipulated the crowd. This match was all about the crowd and their involvement in it. Just the fact that these two were in the same ring made the crowd cheer through exhaustion.
And the picture of The Rock and Hulk Hogan looking to the side while the crowd was going nuts is for sure a WrestleMania moment.
Entrances were done. Both were in the ring. The bell rung. They walked up and stared at each other eye to eye. After that, they looked to the side while the Toronto crowd went nuts. What a moment that was.
Did you know: This original plan for WrestleMania XVIII was to have Stone Cold Steve Austin to take on Hulk Hogan instead of The Rock. However, both did not want to job to each other so the match never came into fruition. Another match originally planned was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H for the WWE Title after Austin refused to job to Hogan.
WrestleMania XIX: Shooting Star Botch: “What the Hell’s Lesnar Doin’ Cole?”
19 of 27The infamous botch from Brock Lesnar. I still remember sitting and watching this PPV at home. Brock Lesnar was going to the top rope (something that I NEVER saw him do until that point), and stood on top of Kurt Angle. I couldn't really think of Brock Lesnar doing any aerial maneuver's because Kurt Angle was all the way on the other side of the ring.
But to my surprise, Brock Lesnar attempted a Shooting Star Press and to my surprise, was unsuccessful landing right on his neck. I just stood right up, and really thought Brock was dead because it was quite a nasty fall the Brock took right there, on the neck no less.
But Brock got up, being the beast he is, and finished the match. This was truly one of the highlights of Lesnar's short-lived WWE career, and a moment etched into the minds of many.
Did you know?
Kurt Angle was competing in this match, despite needing immediate neck surgery for his neck problems. Ironically enough, Brock Lesnar suffered a major concussion by landing on his neck due to a botched Shooting Star Press. It was also the first WrestleMania to feature two distinct World Championship matches, and it was also Shawn Michaels first WrestleMania match since WrestleMania XIV.
WrestleMania XX: Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero embrace.
20 of 27Whenever I think "WrestleMania Moment," I think Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero embracing at the end of WrestleMania XX. I think Benoit and Guerrero embracing after the years of pain and hardship they endured together to get to the top of the moment.
These men traveled the world over together, yet they both shared something in common. They never won the "big one." At WrestleMania XX, it was all changed when Chris Benoit and Guerrero finally reached the top of the mountain, and let go of their emotions and shared a very touching embrace.
Now, in 2011 when I look at this photo, I can't help but remember these two athletes being the greatest to ever lace up boots, and it just makes the video much more emotional to watch.
Did you know?
The World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania XX was originally slated to be Triple H vs. Chris Benoit. Although WWE officials were worrisome of the fact that Chris Benoit vs. Triple H wouldn't draw a big buyrate. So they added Shawn Michaels (who was feuding with Triple H at the time) in the match as a triple threat match.
WrestleMania XXI: Stunned Silent "Austin with a Stunner on Piper!"
21 of 27
Here we have Roddy Piper making a WrestleMania appearance after quite a bit of time, and the last glimpse we see of him at the grand stage of WrestleMania is getting stunned.
It was a good moment, a sort of Generation 1 vs. Generation 2 feel. Stone Cold and Piper sharing and toasting to some beers was also a great moment. Nonetheless, whenever I think of WrestleMania 21, I can't help but think of this Stunner for some reason.
I guess Stone Cold arrived, rose hell, and left.
Did you know?
The famous match between Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels had no planning whatsoever. Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle just went out to the ring, and called the entire match start to finish.
WrestleMania XXII: "Mick Foley's Flesh Maybe Seared! A Spear Through the Table"
22 of 27Some call this the greatest Hardcore Match in not only WrestleMania history, but plain history itself. This is truly a Holy SH!T moment. When I was watching this live with my buddies, I just jumped out of my seat with my mouth wide open. The funny thing is, they did the same.
To be quite honest, I knew that there was going to be fire involved as soon as Lita held that lighter up, but not in this way. A spear through the table was truly something great and unexpected! And the image of this is burned (HA! See what I did there?) in my head forever.
Mick Foley and Edge wanted to have a WrestleMania moment, and they certainly had it here.
Did you know?
The original plans for WrestleMania 22 were Eddie Guerrero vs. Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon, Batista vs. Randy Orton for the World Championship and Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle.
WrestleMania XXIII: Vince McMahon Getting His Head Shaved
23 of 27
This was a little fun moment. I remember watching it on PPV and just laughing. Obviously I knew at the time that there was no way in hell that Donald Trump would lose the match, but it was still funny to see Vince McMahon get his head shaved in front of 80,000 people, not to mention a world wide audience.
And the little bit after the match was over when McMahon was running away from Austin was funny as well! Nontheless, I will forever remember the image of Vince McMahon with shaving cream over his face. Funny stuff here!
Did you know?
WrestleMania 23, which featured Donald Trump, had the highest buyrate in WrestleMania history, AND the RAW that had Donald Trump hosting in 2009 had the highest rating in seven years. Also, the original plan for this Mania was Triple H vs. John Cena for a second year in a row; however, both as faces. This plan never came into fruition because of the torn quadricep that Triple H received at New Year's Revolution in a match against Rated RKO.
WrestleMania XXIV: Shawn Michaels lips "I'm Sorry. I Love You."
24 of 27
I consider this match to be the greatest retirement match of all time. It was a great sendoff for Flair to go off, too, and it was really something emotional.
I admit, I cried out a few man tears when Shawn Michaels superkicked Flair for the 1-2-3, but it was just fitting for a great match like this to end off Flair's WWE career.
However, the WrestleMania moment truly came when Shawn Michaels mouthed the words "I'm sorry. I love you" and delivered the final chin music. It was just extremely emotional and compelling.
Did you know?
WrestleMania XXIV was originally slated to be in Las Vegas, NV but was changed last minute to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL.
WrestleMania XXV: The Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels: "I Am Not Believing This!"
25 of 27
This was 30 minutes and 41 seconds of a WrestleMania moment.
Some call it the "greatest match of all time" and to be quite honest, it's hard to argue against that. This match truly saved WrestleMania XXV from being a huge disaster and is a bout that will be remembered years from now.
In my personal view, when Shawn Michaels kicked out of that first tombstone and gave Undertaker the Sweet Chin Music for the second time, I truly thought that the streak would be broken. It was just a huge roller coaster ride.
Everything about this match was perfect, bell to bell, and the holy sh!t moment came when Undertaker almost lost the streak due to a countout.
Shawn and Taker had the crowd in the palm of their hand, and made them believe whatever they wanted too. These men had delivered a performance of a lifetime. It was truly a match for the ages and the end of an era.
Did you know?
The cameraman was actually former Legacy member Manu, and he was supposed to catch Undertaker during his suicide dive. Also, planned main events for this WrestleMania included Batista vs. Triple H vs. Randy Orton in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship, Edge vs. the Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship and Hulk Hogan vs. John Cena.
WrestleMania XXVI: Undertaker Retires HBK "Shawn Michaels Has Left the Building"
26 of 27
In what can be easily considered one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, "Mr. WrestleMania" Shawn Michaels fell to the Undertaker. And it ultimately cost him his career.
Teary eyed, Mr. WrestleMania walked down the ramp looking one last time to the 72,219 WWE fans in Phoenix. This WrestleMania moment has to be the most emotional of all time as one of the greatest performers stepped down from the ring.
I am a huge Shawn Michaels fan, following his career since he started in the WWF, and to me, it was an extremely depressing moment knowing that your favorite wrestler will not be performing in a ring ever again.
That being said, Shawn Michaels has had the greatest career of all time, and he deserves to rest his body up for all the sacrifices he committed for the fans. In all. Shawn is happy in his retirement, and for that, I'm really happy for him back. And you should all be as well.
Did you know?
Shawn Michaels had decided on his retirement a month before WrestleMania XXV, a year prior. He wanted to go out on a retirement match at WrestleMania XXVI.
