WWE Bragging Rights Preview: 10 Reasons Kane Will Beat the Undertaker

Alfred KonuwaOct 19, 2010

The commencement of Smackdown's top feud between the Undertaker and Kane takes place at WWE: Bragging rights as Kane battles his on-again, off-again brother in a buried alive match.  If history and/or logic is any indicator of the outcome of this match, all signs may point to Kane being victorious in this pivotal contest.

10. The Undertaker Has a Poor Career Record in Buried Alive Matches

1 of 10

The Undertaker is 1-2 in singles buried alive matches with losses to Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin and his lone win over Mankind resulting in an Undertaker burial anyway.  "Burying" the Undertaker seems to be the way to go in these matches, as he enjoys the rare benefit of a wrestler with "supernatural powers" who will be able to return from such a damning defeat sometime down the road.

9. The Undertaker Is Banged Up

2 of 10

Although on paper, a match between the Undertaker and Kane didn't have too much potential to tear a house down, these two have still underperformed in the ring the last few times out.  Much of the diminished value in these matches can be attributed to the fact that the Undertaker is still hurt and just does not move around like we have been accustomed to seeing.

Despite the long layoff, the Undertaker may have come back too soon, and it has become painfully obvious that he will need to take sometime off (at least from in ring competition) with WrestleMania season on the horizon.  What better way to write Taker out of the storylines than with a buried alive match?

8. Paul Bearer

3 of 10

Paul Bearer's presence in this match should prove to be a deciding factor as it was the last time these two locked horns.

Both of the Undertaker's losses in Buried Alive matches came by way of outside interference.  Expect Bearer, and that damned urn, to have a hand in the Undertaker's temporary demise.

7. The Undertaker Is Starting to Be Booked Strongly on TV

4 of 10

One of the telltale signs that a wrestler will likely be doing the job at a pay-per-view is if he has the heat going into the card.

More times than not, being booked strongly on TV leading up to the pay-per-view spells doom for the wrestler in question.

The Undertaker has apparently regained full strength as evidenced by his attack on Kane on the most recent episode of Smackdown, and should he continue this momentum on the go home show (which he likely will), this could very well mean impending doom for the aptly named deadman.

6. Kane's Record Against the Undertaker in This Feud

5 of 10

Kane has gotten the better of the Undertaker two straight times on pay-per-view.  This could mean that Taker is due for a win, however with a third straight gimmick match being booked, with no disqualification, Kane has the advantage as the heel as the Undertaker will likely fall to outside interference as he did at Hell in a Cell.

5. We Still Need a Casket Match!

6 of 10

For this feud to really come full circle, the series of gimmick matches that have defined it really should end with a casket match sometime down the road.

A victory by the Undertaker will end this feud for all intents and purposes.  However should the Undertaker be buried alive, and somehow survive, Taker could seek revenge after a month or two in his signature casket match against Kane.

4. The Urn

7 of 10

With the urn in Kane's possession, expect his mysterious object to play a part in an ultimate Kane victory.  Let's just hope, for the sake of the wrestling fan over 10 years old, this is not the case.

3. There's More Money in Another Undertaker Return

8 of 10

Should the Undertaker be victorious in his match against Kane, he is still somewhat hurt by the fact that Kane went over the first two times (with one of those victories being clean).  With WrestleMania build up season right around the corner, perhaps it's a better idea to completely 'bury' the Undertaker and rebuild him once he comes back.

Should the Undertaker be victorious over Kane in a comeback match before he goes into a program with his WrestleMania opponent, it will feel more like the Undertaker of old is competing as opposed to a wrestler still feeling the effects of a vegetative state who needed three chances in one program to beat his younger brother.

2. Kane Might Need The Victory More

9 of 10

The WWE may need to hold off on taking the belt off Kane until they have something solid for Kane moving forward.

Perhaps the WWE has already put such a program in place, but coming off of such a long, drawn out feud with the Undertaker, a Kane comeback would be more contrived than an Undertaker comeback and any subsequent program involving Kane would feel forced.

1. The Famed Undertaker

10 of 10

Even though he's been literally buried on multiple occasions, such a spot always seems to be a grand set up for one of the Undertaker's signature spots of his hand popping up through the Earth.

Fans of the Undertaker would truly mark out to see that hand pop up out of the dirt, even if it means he has to lose.
