WWE: Why I Just Recently Became a John Cena Fan
For the better part of a decade, I have been watching John Cena wrestle in WWE. When he first showed up, he was a generic-looking big guy.
I pegged him as having the same level of success as guys like Mark Jindrak, guys who looked big but had a very limited moveset.
Cena wore trunks with the hosting city's team colors to get the fans behind him, and it worked sometimes.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Then Cena changed his image to that of a rapper. At first I kind of hated this character, but then I grew to respect what he was actually doing with it.
Then Cena became Vince's go-to guy and he changed his image yet again to what we have seen more recently. He became a kid-friendly babyface who never strayed from the good-guy role.
Cena became immensely popular and WWE recognized this. They threw all their marketing behind Cena and eventually he became stale and boring. It was no longer a special moment to see Super Cena come back from near defeat to beat his opponent.
But recently I have started to like Cena again. He has been doing less long promos, which is good because it allows others to get the spotlight.
Another thing I have noticed is Cena making an effort to expand his moveset and try new things. John has always been somewhat versatile, but lately it seems as if he knows how to adapt to each opponent better than he used to.
It used to be full steam ahead no matter who he faced, but now you can see strategy in his matches. When he faces Gabriel, he keeps him grounded with mat wrestling; when he faces Barrett he tries to stay upright so Barrett's height plays no role.
Cena has truly begun to become a great wrestler over the past two years. The hour-long match he had with HBK was one of the best matches I have ever seen on Raw, and for me to say that about Cena is something rare.
Now Cena is on the brink of a heel turn, and I couldn't be happier. WWE knows that he can't be the underdog forever, especially since he has freakish strength.
Hogan slamming Andre was epic, but Cena giving an AA to Big Show and Edge at the same time seemed impossible.
Lately, Cena has also started being more brutal in his attacks. We all remember what he did to Darren Young after a cage match, and just this week he ripped apart Michael Tarver.
Cena has now been forced to join Nexus, and with him not being allowed to try and sabotage them, I feel like him becoming a heel is inevitable.
This past week I think Cena showed his best acting skills yet, and that includes the stuff from his movies. He looked genuinely upset at being forced to join Nexus, and he looked very happy to tear Michael Tarver a new one.
I am no longer a Cena hater, nor am I a Cena mark, I have become simply a Cena supporter.
