DeAndre Jordan Trade Rumors: Cavs, Clippers Discussing Deal on Deadline Day
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly engaged in trade talks involving center DeAndre Jordan ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides have also discussed getting a third team involved to enhance the chances of getting a deal done.
Cleveland is one of several teams linked to Jordan in the days leading up to the deadline.
Per ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, the Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks have all shown interest in Jordan as well.
The 29-year-old is a one-time All-Star, two-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection and three-time All-NBA choice.
This season, he is averaging 11.5 points, 14.9 rebounds and 1.0 block per game in 47 contests for the Clippers.
That Jordan can opt out of his contract and become a free agent during the offseason makes him a prime trade candidate for L.A., especially since it already dealt power forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons.
Jordan would be a huge addition to a Cavs team that is tied for 29th in the NBA in defensive rating and points allowed per game and 25th in rebound percentage, per NBA.com.
The Clippers are still in the Western Conference playoff hunt, just a half-game behind the eighth-place New Orleans Pelicans.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are clinging to third in the Eastern Conference and are a pedestrian 5-5 over their past five games.
