Kelly Olynyk Rights Reportedly Renounced by Celtics, Will Become UFA
Big man Kelly Olynyk is reportedly hitting the open market.
On Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported the Boston Celtics renounced Olynyk's qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent. He has been with the Celtics his entire four-season career.
This comes after Wojnarowski previously reported Boston was pursuing additional cap space, which made "it increasingly likely" he was headed to unrestricted free agency.

Boston's situation took a turn Tuesday when Gordon Hayward announced he would join the team in an article in the Players' Tribune. Shams Charania of The Vertical noted the agreed upon deal was for four years and $128 million, so Olynyk's potential exit should save the Celtics some cap space with their latest major addition.
Sam Amick of USA Today noted the Gonzaga product has already drawn interest from the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers. Interest from multiple teams is expected considering he showed his potential with 26 points in Boston's Game 7 victory over the Washington Wizards in the second round of the playoffs.
That wasn't a fluke performance after Olynyk averaged double-digit scoring totals two straight seasons before tallying 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 2016-17. There just may not be room in Boston anymore for him to continue serving as a matchup problem in the frontcourt.
