LeBron James Moves to 4th Place on NBA Finals All-Time Scoring List

LeBron James has spent this postseason rewriting record books, and that continued in Game 3 Wednesday.

The NBA Twitter account showed the Cleveland Cavaliers star moving into fourth place in for the most points in NBA Finals history:

As Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today noted, he passed the former Boston Celtics duo of Sam Jones and Bill Russell earlier in the day. Jerry West has the all-time record with 1,679 in his career.

James entered the series seventh all time with 1,079 career points in seven NBA Finals series. After 57 combined points in the first two games against the Golden State Warriors and an impressive 27-point first half Wednesday, he is now fourth on the list.

Jones had scored 1,143 while helping lead the Celtics to 10 titles in a span of 11 years. Russell, who had one more title on the same dynasty in Boston, had 1,151 points. Elgin Baylor never won a ring, but had plenty of finals battles with those two players during his career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ahead of them are Michael Jordan (1,176), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,317) and finally West.

Considering James' ability to consistently reach the Finals, it wouldn't be surprising to see him pass all of them before his career is over.
