Kevin Durant Ruled out vs. Nets with Hand Injury
Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant will not suit up Saturday night against the Brooklyn Nets because of a left hand contusion, according to the Warriors PR department.
The absence will be Durant's first all season, and it comes after he took a hard fall during Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
On Friday, 95.7 The Game's John Dickinson posted a photo of Durant with a wrap on his hand at practice:
Durant concluded a highly publicized journey into the free-agent market by signing with Golden State in July. He teamed up with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to create one of the most explosive quartets in league history. So far, so good for the Dubs, who own the league's best record at 48-9.
If Durant is forced to miss time beyond Saturday, versatile reserve Andre Iguodala figures to take on a bigger role. Ian Clark and Kevon Looney could also see an uptick in minutes.
Durant will assume his usual role once he's back to full strength, which figures to be soon considering the seemingly minor nature of the injury. Once that happens, the Warriors—in pursuit of their second championship in three years—will hope he's ready for the rest of the season and the playoffs.
