Jayson Tatum's Dad Calls Celtics Roster 'S--t' & Tells LaVar Ball Knicks Will Win 2027 NBA Title

The father of Jayson Tatum offered a candid assessment of the Boston Celtics' championship hopes in 2026-27.

Appearing on Ultimate Dads Unplugged, a podcast hosted by LaVar Ball, Dwyane Wade Sr., and Quenton Brown Sr., Justin Tatum said the New York Knicks are his early 2027 Finals pick. Asked about the Celtics, he described their roster as "s--t."

The exchange begins at the 11:33 mark of Saturday's episode.

The elder Tatum was being a little too negative toward the Celtics, but there's no getting around the fact that the team might've taken a step back through the Jaylen Brown trade. Going from Brown to Paul George is a decline in the short term, and signing Mitchell Robinson to address the center position is risky given his injury record.

A starting five that includes George, Jayson Tatum and Derrick White should be good enough to keep Boston at a playoff level in the Eastern Conference.

But a sizable gap exists between the Celtics and the likes of the Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers.
