WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from July 29
For all of the critical acclaim that NXT has enjoyed over the last year, the lack of attention paid on growing and expanding the tag team division was somewhat startling.
Sure, the brand produced The Ascension and the Lucha Dragons but never did the tag division feature more than two or three legitimate teams vying for the championships.
Management set out to change that Wednesday night as tag teams took center stage.

Real SNME Winners & Losers 📊

Takeaways From SNME 44 ➡️
The show was headlined by a tag title match pitting the Vaudevillains against Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake. The vastly underrated team of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder returned to the NXT Arena for a showdown with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady and the bright young duo of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable made their second in-ring appearance.
For the first time since the brand made its initial splash on the WWE Network, the future of tag team wrestling in NXT looked bright, making the entire division the biggest winner of the July 29 episode.
But some teams had better nights than others, with one in particular making the biggest splash while another suffered yet another setback on its journey to gold.

Winners: Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson
The team known collectively as The Mechanics were the biggest winners of Wednesday's broadcast, thanks to a stunning upset in their match with the perpetually over Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady.
Few would have expected the duo to pick up the win, especially considering how underdeveloped and misused they have been in recent months. With that said, their win this week instantly catapults them into tag title contention.
Dawson and Wilder are old-school-style workers in the same vein as Arn Anderson. They are bruisers with superb technical skill, a rare combination in today's wrestling landscape. The only thing they were missing was an opportunity to build momentum and the chance to further develop personas for themselves.
Hopefully their win on Wednesday's show is a step in the right direction.

Losers: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady
The certified Gs had another disappointing night on Wednesday, suffering another loss that set them further back in their quest for the tag team championships.
It was a bit of a shock a few weeks back when Amore and Cassady lost the No. 1 Contender's match to the Vaudevillains. It was absolutely stunning when they were again defeated, this time by Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson, who had been missing in action for weeks prior to their showdown.
With the duo making their debuts at WWE Live Events this past weekend, it is not out of the question that they are on their ways out of NXT and onto the main roster, where their act is better suited.
As popular as the team has proven to be over the years in NXT, it is disappointing that they have not managed to enjoy at least one run with the tag belts to this point. Their rivalry with Murphy and Blake appeared to be the story that would catapult them to the top of the division.
Instead, it may have been the last real story they tell in front of the faithful fans in Full Sail University before jumping to the land of giants on Raw and SmackDown.

Winners: Jason Jordan and Chad Gable
The youngest of the teams making an impact on this week's broadcast, Jordan and Gable continued to demonstrate the amateur-wrestling skills that earned them jobs in WWE. They also continued to develop the in-ring chemistry that will help them move up the ranks in the coming weeks.
Gable was particularly excellent this week, incorporating a smile into his act as he outwrestled his opponents.
The team's work is reminiscent of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, who channeled amateur-wrestling credentials into a quality run in WWE.
Whether they go on to achieve the same sort of success those two did remains to be seen, but they are on the right track.
At least for now.
