Current AEW and Hall of Fame WWE announcer Jim Ross underwent a successful procedure on his brain Wednesday.

Conrad Thompson, who co-hosts the Grilling JR podcast with Ross, took to X on Wednesday to announce that Ross' daughter informed him that "everything went well" with his surgery:

On Tuesday, Ross explained the procedure he was about to undergo in a post on X, writing, "A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted reach into my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid."

The 74-year-old pro wrestling commentator first divulged last month that he was preparing to have brain surgery.

During an episode of Grilling JRย (beginning at the 1:00 mark), Ross shared the news and provided some insight into why he needed the surgery (h/tย WrestlingNews.co).

"I'm getting ready to have another surgery, brain surgery this time, and that's going to be an adventure, because I don't think they're going to find much, oh God, my brain," Ross said. ...

"I gotta get it addressed. I couldn't live my life the way it was, you know. I forget s--t and just couldn't remember things. It's just horrible. I felt horrible, but that all started with me passing out in my house and being discovered there, and we began an almost 40-day hospital stay."

Ross, who has been with AEW since 2019 after a lengthy run with WWE from 1993 to 2013 and again from 2017 to 2019, has been open with his health struggles in recent years.

He twice announced that he was diagnosed with cancer over the past five yearsโ€”aย skin cancer diagnosisย in 2021 and aย colon cancer diagnosisย in 2025.

Ross underwent treatment and eventually announced that he was cancerย free on both occasions.
