WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for July 30
The final WWE SmackDown of July zeroes in on a select portion of the roster, on a select set of feuds escalating on the road to SummerSlam.
In the main event, Kevin Owens has an opportunity to make up for his recent string of losses. Elsewhere on Thursday's card, Rusev, Stardust and WWE champ Seth Rollins seek momentum of their own.
Meanwhile, the show doesn't have any bouts on tap for Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, John Cena (surely still recovering from a broken nose) and, despite an advertised match between Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella, anyone from the women's division. Tulsa, Oklahoma, instead hosts a good chunk of the tag division and Superstars all seemingly in line for midcard showdowns at SummerSlam.

Takeaways From SNME 44 ➡️
WWE taped all the action on Tuesday night. Before it airs on Thursday on Syfy at 8 p.m. ET, spoilers will be floating around the Internet.
The following preview is for those fans who have managed to avoid said spoilers and want to see what matches will comprise the show, sans results.
Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
A rematch from last Thursday's SmackDown is Cesaro's latest chance to prove that he belongs in WWE's top tier.
He's been on fire in the ring as of late. Going up against Cena, Rusev and others, he's produced some of the best TV matches of the year. Does that trend continue here, or is it destined to get interrupted before it really gets going?
Keep an eye on how Rollins looks here.
For the majority of his WWE title reign, he's been made to look like a bumbler lucky to be champ. He's lost to his own inept security team and most recently tapped out in the closing bout from Monday's Raw.
Another loss here would further damage his image.
The New Day and The Ascension vs. The Lucha Dragons and Los Matadores
Announcers have been selling the narrative that the tag team division is up in the air right now.
The teams have all been trading victories, and The New Day are no longer the clear-cut No. 1 contenders. Does that mean we're heading for a four-way collision between teams? How this match plays out will be a big hint to how WWE will answer that question.

The more chaotic things get, the more personal the bout becomes, the more likely this is a precursor to several massive scraps at SummerSlam.
The New Day have been especially excellent at playing irksome, grinning braggarts. Anticipation about what they will do next with those characters makes this an appealing contest regardless of the quality of the action itself.
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger
On Monday's Raw, Swagger didn't get to soak in the pop he would have received in his home state. He does here, however.
For Swagger, it will be good to just get some TV time. Since losing his feud with Rusev months ago, the powerhouse patriot hasn't been asked to do much at all. Even if this match doesn't lead anywhere, at least Swagger will be working with a guy he has produced some quality work against in the past.
With Summer Rae at his side, Rusev seeks yet another victory against his old foe.
All signs point to him facing Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam, once The Showoff recovers from his storyline throat injury, of course. Rusev spent his airtime on Monday's Raw insulting both Ziggler and Land.
Fans will be keeping their eyes open for a Ziggler return and run-in. The babyface will come storming back for his revenge eventually.
R-Truth vs. Stardust
Now that R-Truth's battle with King Barrett for the right to be called is over, he faces a foe he tangled with several times over not long ago. Stardust has since moved on from trying to frighten R-Truth with snakes to now haunting Neville the best he can.
It's looking more and more like Neville and Stardust are headed for a collision at SummerSlam with Stephen Amell from Arrow being involved somehow. Stardust's repeated arrow imagery speaks to that.
For now, he enters what looks like a warm-up bout.
Partly for that reason, this is not the most thrilling match on paper. Expectations will be low.
Cesaro and Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens
Cesaro and Rollins pull double duty as WWE continues to use SmackDown as the launch point for the brewing issues between The King of Swing and Owens.
On last week's SmackDown, Owens took advantage of a defeated Cesaro, powerbombing him to the mat after his clash with Rollins.
Expect the bad blood between those men to continue to increase here. A SummerSlam showdown is looming.
It will be interesting to note as well how both Cesaro and Ambrose are booked. It's not clear where the latter sits on the WWE hierarchy right now, and it feels like Cesaro is just a few steps away from world title contention.
Should one of those wrestlers pin the world champ, there will be plenty to discuss afterward.
