Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, the Bella Twins and More from the Revolution Mailbag

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar is set for SummerSlam and I don't like it. Fans who were in attendance at Scottrade Center for Battleground loved it, but are they actually considering what a wrestling match between these two in 2015 would look like?

Road-Brock?

@ThisIsNasty want to take back your words on Taker vs Brock? Crowd was losing their minds. #thisisawesome

No. No I don't. At the end of the day, they still have to have a wrestling match and it won't be pretty. There's no doubt the crowd is into these two guys. When Undertaker returned, the live reaction in St. Louis was incredible. But the storytelling is very weak.

Why is Undertaker avenging a loss from two WrestleManias ago in the middle of the year at a throwaway pay-per-view?

If vengeance was on his mind, shouldn't he have come back for Brock leading up to WrestleMania 31 while Lesnar was WWE world heavyweight champion? I would have settled for WrestleMania 32. But right now?

Undertaker sure knows how to hold on to a grudge. Who's his next target? Ted DiBiase?

Lesnar is the hottest babyface in the company, but now he's being unnecessarily sacrificed in favor of a streak that everybody has since moved on from.

A match between Lesnar and Undertaker has very little potential to be good. Their last match was terrible. And spare me the concussion excuse—Undertaker has been injured in several of his last few wrestling appearances. Even a healthy Undertaker looked slow and winded at WrestleMania 31.

You mean to tell me the very physical Lesnar—who broke Jamie Noble's ribs, per Marissa Payne from the Washington Post, after throwing him into a soft, protective barricade—isn't an injury risk to a 50-year-old Undertaker? If Undertaker gets hurt at SummerSlam, his status for WrestleMania 32 could be in jeopardy.

At this stage, Undertaker can't take five suplexes, let alone 16. How, exactly, is all this going to work?

The Wizard of Schmoz?

@ThisIsNasty so if Brock loses he loses momentum. If Taker loses he looks weak against Brock. Who wins? #SummerSlam

Nobody. WWE is getting cute with Lesnar, and I think it continues. At Battleground, Michael Cole mentioned that Lesnar has not lost by pinfall or submission in two years. This is a very murky statistic because his last three wrestling matches were compromised.

At WrestleMania 31, Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract toward the end of the match and pinned Roman Reigns. The following night on Raw, Lesnar's scheduled WWE Championship match against Rollins didn't start. At Battleground, Lesnar's scheduled WWE Championship match against Rollins didn't finish.

Therefore, it's only fair to conclude that at SummerSlam, Undertaker will pull Lesnar into the depths of Hell and the match will be over.

Question of the Week: Are Bella Dynasties Good for Business?

@ThisIsNasty I agree that it's not only about flips and kicks, but what kind of good entertainment appeal do the Bellas have?

— Alex Tessan (@TessanBoy) July 21, 2015

The Bellas are the only Divas people actively want to boo. Without them, the Divas division is just straight-up wrestling, and that only appeals to the wrestling snobs who already watch NXT.

People don't want to boo Sasha Banks, Charlotte or Becky Lynch. They represent change. They're too good in the ring to play heels in an era where WWE has aborted basic principles of establishing good from evil.

Fortunately, the Bellas are natural heels. They represent a dynasty. They're WWE's answer to the Kardashians. The reality show chicks. They get visceral heat from live arenas and fans who think they just want to see good wrestling, but the emotional aspect the Bellas bring adds value to the division.

When it comes to true heels in the Divas division, the Bella Twins are all that we have.

As I mentioned on the PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, the conflict between old and new will drive emotional investment in the Divas division. Fans are so wired about the Bellas-NXT rivalry, they were complaining about how bad Brie Bella looked in the ring before her match at Battleground even began!

With the NFL around the corner, WWE has to do better than a Divas wrestling match with no real storyline behind it. Raw's ratings have only gone down over the past few years. And if WWE thinks another Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte wrestling match will compete with the America's insatiable thirst for football, I'll gladly watch the Green Bay Packers crush the Chicago Bears every time.

Plight, Owens, Plight?

@ThisIsNasty is @FightOwensFight momentum completely killed after losing a second match to Cena and where do you see him going from here?

— Justin Finley (@justfinl3y) July 23, 2015

No. People will remember Owens' matches against John Cena more than the wins and losses because they were that good.

Wins and losses do matter in pro wrestling, but unfortunately, WWE's Cena template is for Cena to take one loss—usually early—and win throughout the rest of the series. It happened with Rusev and Wyatt, and now it's happening with Owens.

The concern with Owens is the cavalcade of losses he is taking outside of the Cena feud. Owens lost the NXT Championship to Finn Balor and looks to be heading for another loss at the NXT show in Brooklyn. This is typical WWE booking of cooling a guy off after he gains a head of steam.

Nobody is impervious to this flawed logic. Not even Brock Lesnar. Like Lesnar, however, Owens will be just fine.
