Bobby Wagner Agrees to Contract Extension with Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks and Bobby Wagner have agreed to a four-year contract extension, according to Rand Getlin and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
On July 31, Wagner took to Twitter to say "can't keep everyone" after Russell Wilson received a four-year, $87.6 million extension, per Peter King of Sports Illustrated. Wagner added, per Steve Wyche of NFL.com, "You play well, you're supposed to get paid—that's the view point right now. We'll see if that holds up."
Pete Carroll said, per the team, "We're on it. Anything you've heard otherwise is wrong. I hope he's with us for a long time." Curtis Crabtree of the Associated Press added that Carroll hoped to get a deal done before the season starts.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
An All-Pro selection last season, Wagner registered 104 tackles and two sacks in 11 games. Pro Football Focus ranked him the fifth-best run-stopping inside linebacker in football, and he was also in the top 15 in terms of coverage and tackling efficiency. Overall, he graded as the NFL's fifth-best inside linebacker.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported last month that Wagner was looking for a contract averaging roughly $10 million per season. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Lawrence Timmons is the only full-time inside linebacker who has a cap hit of at least $10 million in 2015, per Spotrac. No player at the position has an average annual salary of $10 million.
An integral part of Seattle's league-best defense, keeping Wagner around long term was a no-brainer.
