Triple H Grades Rob Gronkowski's WWE Entrance, 'Would’ve Been Perfect in DX'
WWE Hall of Famer and head of creative Triple H gave legendary NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski his stamp of approval Friday.
At Fanatics Fest in New York City, Gronk took advantage of the opportunity to take part in an authentic WWE entrance, using the D-Generation X theme song:
Triple H, who was a founding member of DX, took to social media to praise Gronkowski, grading his entrance a "10" and noting that he would have been "perfect in DX."
Like Gronkowski during and after his playing career, D-Generation X was known for pushing boundaries, having fun and entertaining the masses during WWE's Attitude Era in the late 1990s.
Gronk is among the best tight ends in NFL history and a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, as he recorded 621 receptions for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns over 11 NFL seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He also won four Super Bowls and was a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time First Team All-Pro.
Gronkowski temporarily retired from football in 2019 and began to pursue a career in pro wrestling. He served as the host of WrestleMania 36 during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, beating his friend, Mojo Rawley, for the 24/7 Championship at the event.
It seemed like Gronk was poised for a substantial run in WWE with some high-profile matches, but he decided to return to football for the 2020 season, so he dropped the 24/7 title to R-Truth in June of that year.
Gronk retired again after the 2021 season and has since worked as an NFL analyst, but it won't be shocking if he works again with WWE in the future.
He is still relatively young at just 36, he was an elite athlete during his playing days, and he possesses the type of personality that typically works well in pro wrestling.
Gronkowski appeared quite comfortable while making his entrance at Fanatics Fest, which could potentially be a preview of things to come.
