Logan Paul Says He Was Surprised By R-Truth's Return

Ron "R-Truth" Killings made his shocking return to WWE during the main event of Money in the Bank last weekend, but one of the participants in the match said they weren't told beforehand that Truth would be part of the match.

Speaking this week on his Impaulsive podcast (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Logan Paul suggested he was just as surprised as the fans when Truth showed up:

"No one told me R-Truth was coming," Paul said. "I didn't even know. I didn't even know. So bro, I'm sitting there and he comes back, I'm like, 'What the f--k is he doing here?'"

On June 1, Killings took to X to announce he had been released from WWE, ending a tenure with the company that began in 2008:

He had become a beloved figure in WWE over the years due to his comedic timing, and fans quickly spoke out against the idea of WWE parting ways with him.

The online chatter turned into chants at Raw and SmackDown, and they were so loud that WWE apparently couldn't ignore them. As a result, the decision was made to bring Killings back into the fold.

During the main event of Money in the Bank pitting Paul and John Cena against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, a masked person jumped in the ring and attacked Cena.

Killings removed the mask to reveal himself, which led to a massive pop from the crowd in attendance at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

Rhodes took advantage of Killings' interference and pinned Cena for the win, sending fans home happy after what had been a tumultuous week.

Killings appeared on Monday's episode of Raw, cutting a serious promo, which was a significant departure from the character he portrayed for many years previously.

He expressed a desire to begin going by his real name rather than R-Truth, and he ended the promo by shockingly cutting his hair.

It isn't clear what Killings' next move is, but WWE fans are thrilled to have him back, which speaks to the idea that WWE made the right call by reversing course and finding common ground with him on a new deal.

Rumored Plans for Remainder of Cena's Retirement Tour Schedule

John Cena revealed Monday night on Raw that he has only 18 dates remaining in his retirement tour this year, and some light was shed on what fans can potentially expect to see the rest of the way.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc.com's Julien D'Alessandro), the majority of Cena's remaining dates will be Raw or SmackDown appearances where he doesn't wrestle.

That suggests Cena has only a small handful of matches left, and one of them will be a WWE Championship defense against CM Punk at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia later this month.

While Cena has spent the bulk of his retirement tour as a heel, Meltzer expressed his belief that Cena will turn babyface at some point, which could lead to his final match being against a big-time heel.

For now, Cena is clearly the heel in his upcoming match against Punk, and it is fair to wonder if Punk could potentially beat Cena and snap him back to reality.

If not, SummerSlam feels like a possible destination for Cena to drop the title and return to his babyface roots, perhaps with Rhodes being the one to do it after Cena beat Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.

Regardless of what the plans are for Cena's character, the clock is ticking on his in-ring career, so every appearance he makes and every match he wrestles will be of the utmost importance.

Meaning Behind Blake Monroe's New WWE Name

Last week, former AEW women's world champion Mariah May made her surprising WWE debut in NXT, and this week her new name was revealed.

As part of a vignette that seemed to draw inspiration from singer Sabrina Carpenter, fans were introduced to May's new persona, as she will now be going by the name Blake Monroe.

The Blake Monroe name holds some special meaning for May, as Cory Hays of BodySlam.net reported that "Blake" is in reference to May's niece and "Monroe" is in honor of legendary actress Marilyn Monroe.

Under the Mariah May name, Monroe became a star wrestling in Japan and parlayed that into a contract with AEW in 2023.

She was instantly thrust into a major storyline, serving as an ally to then-AEW women's world champion Toni Storm. May went on to win the Owen Hart Tournament before turning on Storm and beating her for the title.

Storm won the title back from May and beat her in a Hollywood Ending match at Revolution in March, which proved to be May's final match in AEW.

Once it became apparent that May was going to WWE, it created speculation regarding whether she would have to change her name.

When her name wasn't mentioned last week on NXT, it seemed obvious that a change was coming, as WWE took a similar approach when it debuted Ricky Starks and then revealed his name as Ricky Saints the following week.

While the Blake Monroe name will require fans to adjust, the fact that the name is meaningful to May herself figures to help ease some of the concerns fans may have.
