Predicting When Seth Rollins, Naomi Cash In WWE Money in the Bank Briefcases

Graham GSM MatthewsJun 11, 2025

In the immediate aftermath of every WWE Money in the Bank, speculation runs wild as to when the winners of the men's and women's ladder matches will ultimately cash in their contracts.

In the last decade-plus, there have been a number of occasions when the audience hasn't had to wait long to find out. Kane, Dean Ambrose, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Liv Morgan and Drew McIntyre all cashed in at the event itself, but that wasn't the case this year.

Seth Rollins and Naomi emerged victorious in their respective matchups, guaranteeing themselves a shot at any championship of their choosing for up to one year. No one has ever waited the full 12 months, though Rollins did wait longer than almost anyone when he won it the first time in 2014.

The overall reaction to their victories has been mixed, with Naomi viewed an excellent candidate for the women and Rollins being a predictable and uninspiring choice for the men. However, it's all about how WWE books them now and how it intends to have them cash in, whether it be successfully or unsuccessfully.

Money in the Bank has always been a heel gimmick first and foremost, so them holding the briefcases should make for a more intriguing next few months on Raw and SmackDown.

Let's look at the lay of the land in WWE right now and attempt to predict when Rollins and Naomi could cash in.

Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship Win Indefinitely Delays Rollins' Cash-In

The biggest selling point on Rollins becoming Mr. Money in the Bank was that he'd be lurking in the shadows while Jey Uso was world heavyweight champion and constantly threatening to cash-in on him when he was most vulnerable, especially after their title clash on Raw at the start of May ended in a no-contest.

That quickly went out the window this week when Gunther avenged his WrestleMania 41 loss to Uso to regain the gold in clean fashion.

Rollins cashing in the contract on Uso either during the match or afterward was a real possibility, especially with Uso playing up his level of exhaustion from everything he's endured as of late.

That would have put Uso back in chase mode heading into SummerSlam, but Gunther instead beating him clean was a much better outcome.

Unless the idea is to turn The Ring General face soon and have him feud with Rollins, The Visionary taking the title from him at any point in the foreseeable future wouldn't make sense.

Gunther doesn't necessarily need to hold the belt for another eight months, but he should walk into SummerSlam as champ, otherwise the title change will have been a waste of time.

Rollins can afford to keep the contract in his possession for an extended period and continue to wreck havoc on Raw in the meantime.

Feuding with LA Knight and Cashing In on Sami Zayn

The trajectory of Rollins' run as Mr. Money in the Bank entirely depends on who WWE is planning on eventually dethroning Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Uso should be slowly transitioned out of title contention for the time being, while Sami Zayn works his way toward an opportunity instead.

The Underdog from the Underground has been reminded on more than one occasion recently by members of the roster that he'll never be a world champion, which has to be leading somewhere significant soon.

Cody Rhodes winning the 2025 King of the Ring tournament to set up his WrestleMania rematch with John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam seems to be the most logical direction for WWE to head in, but if it's not The American Nightmare, Zayn would be a suitable second option.

Zayn and Gunther have plenty of history with the former being the first Superstar to pin the latter on the main roster at WrestleMania 40. It would be a stellar story for him to pull it off again and capture the prestigious prize, only for friend-turned-foe Rollins to steal it from him via a Money in the Bank cash-in.

That would be the catalyst for a longer-term story with Zayn and Rollins en route to WrestleMania 42 and Zayn giving Rollins his comeuppance there.

Until SummerSlam, Rollins can feud with LA Knight, who he attacked last Friday on SmackDown and cost the Money in the Bank briefcase on Saturday night. Not only is it a fresh rivalry, it would also be mutually beneficial and keep Rollins busy until the time comes for him to return to the world title picture.

Naomi's Unfinished Business with Jade Cargill

WWE Money In The Bank

Naomi already had a target on her back prior to Money in the Bank thanks to her long list of enemies, but she'll be an even bigger focal point on Friday nights now that she has the women's briefcase at her disposal.

Although she hinted going after Bianca Belair a few weeks back, her first order of business should be to settle her score with Jade Cargill, who defeated her when they went one-on-one at WrestleMania 41.

WWE is usually of the mindset that the MITB holders can easily absorb losses if they're eventually going to cash in the contract successfully and become champion, but it's more important for Naomi to beat Cargill so she can maintain momentum and be elevated by the win.

The perfect place for them to have a final faceoff would be Evolution in some sort of stipulation match, ideally a Street Fight or Last Woman Standing bout. Cargill could factor into Naomi's cash-in if The Glow doesn't deal with her before then.

Belair is another potential rival for her ahead of the cash-in, but that program can wait until Naomi is champion, likely later in the summer.

Tiffany Stratton Will Spin Her Wheels Until Time Comes for Naomi to Cash In

4 of 5
SmackDown

Tiffany Stratton has had nothing short of a great reign as WWE women's champion with wins over Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair and anyone else who has stepped up to her since she cashed in her briefcase at the onset of 2025.

She's also come into her own in a babyface role, but now she's conquered the top two heels in the division, there aren't many viable challengers left to face her going forward.

Naomi is the best possible foe for her at some point, but only after she cashes in successfully can they begin feuding over the title.

Naomi vs. Stratton would work as a match for SummerSlam if The Glow takes the title before then. That would require her to cash within the next month or so and there's no doubt she's ready for it.

Although she can carry for the briefcase for the remainder of the year and wait until Belair or Cargill clinch the championship so she can take it from either one of them, there's no reason for her to wait as long as Stratton did.

If the division is going to revolve around Naomi regardless, she may as well be champion sooner rather than later.

Final Verdicts

5 of 5

It isn't out of the ordinary for WWE to have one of its Money in the Bank winners cash in relatively early so there aren't two briefcases in play for months at a time. This has happened more often than not in the last eight years, and it's safe to assume this year won't be an exception.

Between the two, Naomi cashing in first is the better bet. The WWE Women's Championship scene could use a slight shake-up, and the two-time SmackDown women's champ getting her title run while she's still doing exemplary heel work would be the way to go.

Expect Evolution or SummerSlam to be where she finally gets her moment.

As for Rollins, there shouldn't be any rush for him to cash in now Gunther is again reigning supreme as world heavyweight champion. The Visionary simply doesn't fit into that conversation for the time being and won't until WrestleMania 42 draws closer.

Anything could change in the coming months, but by the fall, Rollins should also be successful in exchanging the briefcase for gold, specifically by beating whoever winds up dethroning The Ring General.

Rollins already being at the main event level defeats the purpose of him being Mr. Money in the Bank, but it will at least make matters more interesting toward the top of the card on Raw.
