Naomi's Deserving Win and More Hot Takes from WWE Money in the Bank Card

Erik BeastonJun 8, 2025

WWE presented its annual Money in the Bank premium live event Saturday night from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, with a blockbuster card that saw Naomi and Seth Rollins hoist the briefcases to earn future championship opportunities any time and place they see fit.

Were they the right choices to win the MITB matches, though?

Find out with this collection of hot takes from the latest WWE PLE.

Naomi Most Deserving of Overdue Money in the Bank Win

The lineup in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match was among the best in WWE history, with Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, Roxanne Perez, Alexa Bliss, Giulia and Naomi vying for the coveted briefcase.

It was the final name on that list who not only earned the right to win the match but also thoroughly deserved it.

Not only has Naomi worked 16 years to better her craft, emerging during NXT Season 3 in 2010, but she knew her value and walked out when she felt like she was not appreciated, went to TNA Wrestling and proved her value as an in-ring performer. She then returned to WWE, underwent a heel turn and has become one of the most engaging characters on any brand.

The 37-year-old has put in the work, never rested on her name or reputation, and did it all while being regularly overlooked by management. So much so that her MITB win, which members of the women's division have successfully cashed in 100 percent of the time, is the closest she has come to being a singles champion in the promotion since her run with the SmackDown Women's Championship in 2017.

A dynamic performer who has now proved she can be a babyface or heel, she is turning in some of her finest work to date and Saturday's victory was merely validation of that.

The continued issues with Jade Cargill and a still largely untapped rivalry with Bianca Belair has her in a position to have one of the strongest years of her career. The briefcase and what it potentially means for Naomi's legacy only brings further gravity to it.

Triple H's Ron Killings Answer Threatens Trust With Fans

Following the surprise return of Ron Killings in the closing moments of the tag team main event Saturday night, WWE chief content officer Triple H fielded questions from the media as part of the Money in the Bank post-show.

Just six days after the artist formerly known as R-Truth took to X to announce his departure from the company and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported the longtime fan-favorite's contract would not be renewed, The Game claimed it was "all part of the show."

If so, someone forgot to tell Killings, who refuted the idea that the ordeal was a "work."

Sapp substantiated Killings' response, revealing it was not a work and that "Nick Khan took over and called Killings to work out a new deal." Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported the deal came together within 72 hours of Saturday's show.

The former 24/7, tag team and United States champion's son, Christopher, shot down the claim, too.

While there is a certain level of face-saving to be expected from management when the audience voiced its displeasure with the decision so clearly and forced their hand, Triple H's almost flippant answer threatens the level of trust between him and the fans.

It was a blatant fib, one that was quickly debunked by the performer himself. And while some may suggest Killings is covering up the story, nothing about the outpouring of support from his peers, friends and others in the industry a week ago suggests there was anything but legitimacy to his initial post.

Saturday night was a perfect opportunity for The Game to say "we heard you" and acknowledge the fans. Instead, he took a different, more self-serving approach and likely alienated a portion of the audience who sees through it in the process.

Seth Rollins Win Was the Only Right Option In Men's Match

It would have been nice to see LA Knight's popularity paid off in the form of a Money in the Bank victory, but when the crop of talent in Saturday's match was finalized, it became clear there was only one correct choice to hoist the briefcase by night's end: Seth Rollins.

The Visionary outlasted Knight, El Grande Americano, Andrade, Penta and Solo Sikoa to secure the second Money in the Bank win of his career, a move that was necessary given the current creative landscape in WWE.

While all five of his opponents could have easily retrieved the briefcase and benefited from a cash-in, none was ready for that catapult up the card, outside of Knight. Given how he has not been the focal point of anything he has been involved in over the last handful of months, a briefcase win and the expectations that come with it may have set up The Megastar for failure.

Rollins, on the other hand, is the lead villain on Raw. Like any great, self-absorbed heel whose concern for the well-being of the industry is a thinly veiled way of saying they should be at the top of the business, that vision includes him as champion.

After failing to win the gold a few weeks back from Jey Uso, he now has the opportunity to cash in and steal the title.

Whether anyone inserts themselves in the cash-in, like CM Punk, remains to be seen but there is no denying that of the talent involved in Saturday's match, only Rollins was creatively set up to win the briefcase and utilize it in an ongoing story of significance.

Chad Gable's Career Year Continues With MVP Performance

There are bigger stars than him across Raw and SmackDown but one would be hard-pressed to find a performer who has consistently brought excellence to his in-ring game and character presentation like Chad Gable in 2025.

Tasked with playing dual roles as the leader of American Made and the mysterious new luchador El Grande Americano, he has shown up and shown out in both roles, walking the fine line between his normal form and this new character that everyone knows is just him under a mask but still enjoys anyway.

Saturday, he worked the main event of the World's Collide premium live event against El Hijo del Vikingo, narrowly falling to the AAA mega champion. Then, just a few hours later, entered the men's Money in the Bank ladder match under the guise of Americano and delivered another strong performance, showcasing his athleticism and taking a big bump off a Spear from Bron Breakker.

That he did so with a nice-sized laceration on his back only made the two-match performance that much more impressive.

One of the most consistently great performers in every aspect of the game, Gable has more than earned the acclaim and spotlight he has received in 2025 and has been an MVP-caliber player for WWE amid a roster full of bigger stars in more prominent positions.
