Seth Rollins' Money in the Bank Destiny, Huge Shake-Up Needed, More WWE Raw Fallout

Kevin BergeMay 27, 2025

The May 26 edition of WWE Raw on Netflix at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida built the hype for Money in the Bank with several qualifying matches.

Seth Rollins defeated Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn, while Penta defeated Chad Gable and Dragon Lee to qualify for the men's MITB ladder match.

Jey Uso delivered a warning to Gunther ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match in two weeks.

Liv Morgan returned to Raw, only to lose to Kairi Sane, thanks to an argument between Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

The New Day escaped with the World Tag Team Championships in a Triple Threat match against The War Raiders and The Creed Brothers.

This was an important show with less than two weeks left before the next WWE premium live event on June 7.

Why Seth Rollins Should Win MITB Briefcase

1 of 4

Few men are more strongly tied to the Money in the Bank briefcase than Seth Rollins. His first world title reign came from the only cash-in at WrestleMania.

Labelled the Heist of the Century, his mid-main event cash-in may still be the biggest moment of his career.

Since that first win, he has won five world titles and become one of the central stars of WWE.

His win in the WrestleMania 41 main event set up Rollins to be the true top heel in the business, but that won't be fully established until he wins the world title again.

That should start with a second victory in the men's Money in the Bank ladder match on June 7.

If The Visionary wins then, he would be only the second man to win the match twice, following his top rival, CM Punk.

He could throw that truth in Punk's face while also taunting both Jey Uso and John Cena for several months with the tease of how he might look to steal the world title.

This is the best option for WWE right now and makes the most of the Money in the Bank concept in 2025.

WWE Bizarrely Underselling Jey Uso vs. Gunther Rematch

Jey Uso has been a solid world heavyweight champion so far, putting on decent performances against Seth Rollins and Logan Paul in matches undermined by interference.

His next title defense will be against Gunther, a major test for whether the champion can eclipse his WrestleMania 41 rival.

This would be a great contest to add to the Money in the Bank card, but Uso will be busy then teaming with Cody Rhodes in a meaningless match against John Cena and Logan Paul.

Even the possibility of rapper Travis Scott getting involved in this tag match does not make it any less unnecessary.

The focus for Uso should be on his World Heavyweight Championship and not Cena and the Undisputed WWE Championship.

This booking into Money in the Bank makes Gunther's title challenge on the Raw after the PLE feel superfluous in comparison.

This is especially disappointing because it shows Gunther is far less of a priority in 2025 than he was last year and will likely continue to fall down the Raw card after losing to Uso.

Last Chance for Kairi Sane to Rise Up the Ranks

3 of 4

Kairi Sane won her first match since returning from injury after pinning former women's world champion Liv Morgan.

This could set up The Pirate Princess for a Women's Tag Team Championships challenge, particularly post-Asuka return, but it might also herald a rise up the card for her.

While Sane has made her mark on the business, she has not quite lived up to her potential following her 2017 Mae Young Classic win and NXT Women's Championship reign.

She has worked mostly as a tag team wrestler alongside Asuka on the main roster, winning the Women's Tag Team Championships twice.

Sane still has potential as a singles star, possibly going after the Women's Intercontinental Championship down the line, but she can only get there by continuing to win big matches while staying healthy.

In January 2025, she suffered an arm injury that sidelined her for four months. At 36 years old with a primarily high-flying style, she cannot afford further injuries at this stage of her career.

Hopefully, Sane will get big chances and be able to avoid serious injury, setting the stage for her to rise in the singles ranks throughout 2025.

Raw Tag Team Division Needs Major Shake-Up

4 of 4
Monday Night RAW

The New Day is one of the all-time great tag teams in WWE history, and Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods can still perform at a high level despite their veteran status in 2025.

There is no reason why their title reign should feel so stale after just one month.

It does not help that they dethroned The War Raiders, who had also grown stale quickly as world tag team champions.

The biggest problem, though, is the booking. The SmackDown tag team division feels significantly deeper, especially after the debut of Fraxiom and return of The Wyatt Sicks.

Raw needs some of the established talent from Friday nights to switch brands, particularly a name with less direction such as Motor City Machine Guns or DIY.

Since WWE does not seem likely to deliver a draft any time soon, the best option would be a trade that brings over at least one top team to freshen up the division.

Kingston and Woods need stronger long-term rivals for this title reign to matter, even if the first priority is simply for Raw to take their run more seriously.
