Bronson Reed, Real Winners and Losers of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Match Card
Airing from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, the May 24, 2025 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event delivered important story developments for WWE.
CM Punk and Bron Breakker found a new ally in Bronson Reed, who took out CM Punk and set up the Paul Heyman group to pin Sami Zayn to win.
Zelina Vega continued her hot streak by successfully defeating Chelsea Green to defend her Women's United States Championship.
R-Truth came out swinging against John Cena while dressed like The Last Real Champ. However, Cena was not moved and laid out Truth with a low blow and AA for the win.
Damian Priest made an emphatic statement, laying out Drew McIntyre and walking out of the Steel Cage for the victory.
"Main Event" Jey Uso survived the best cheap efforts of Logan Paul and an angry Cena (with the help of Cody Rhodes) to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
Who were the real winners of the night, the talent that walk in better spots than before? Who were the real losers, left in a bad spot after SNME?
Winner: Bronson Reed
1 of 5Bronson Reed is back, and he has inserted himself into the biggest story on Raw.
Mr. Nice Guy may not picked up a win on the show, but he raised his stock more than anyone on this night.
When Reed was last on TV, he was feuding with Seth Rollins and aligned with The Bloodline. An injury in WarGames put a potential huge push on hold.
If he had returned to keep working with The Bloodline, it would have also made sense.
However, this may be an even better spot for Reed as he will be treated one of the most destructive forces in WWE alongside Bron Breakker and The Visionary.
Especially in a depleted Raw tag team division, Breakker and Reed could immediately take the gold from New Day and dominate for the rest of the year.
This was a necessary move for this stable that was quickly running out of numbers in the fight for control of Raw.
Loser: Chelsea Green
2 of 5When Chelsea Green earned the right to be called the first-ever Women's United States Championship, she adapted her character into a presidential spoof role.
She built up a Secret Hervice to protect her as champion, bringing in Alba Fyre to help Piper Niven.
Despite all of this, her title reign lasted 131 days, ending in defeat at the hands of Zelina Vega on the April 25 edition of SmackDown.
With a repeat loss to Vega at Saturday Night's Main Event, Green is officially out of the title scene, making her current character already feel outdated.
It is hard to know what Green will do next, but it will take a while for her to get another shot at any championship.
Loser: R-Truth
3 of 5R-Truth has not worked many big shows in the last decade of his career. Fighting John Cena one-on-one at SNME during The Last Real Champ's retirement tour is a huge spot.
However, despite the strong story built up for this spot, Truth did not last five minutes against Cena and was unable to bring back the "old" Cena.
This could very well be the last time Truth gets a major spotlight on a major WWE event, and he went out with a whimper.
Cena will move on and likely forget about Truth completely as he continues his retirement tour.
Winner: Damian Priest/Loser: Drew McIntyre
4 of 5The most heated match of the night was Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest. The two traded results in the past, but The Scottish Warrior won the biggest bout at WrestleMania 41.
This was the decider of the rivalry. After all of the hatred between these stars, the winner would walk out a top championship contender.
The Punishment did just that, defeating McIntyre by walking out after knocking him out with a Con-chair-to.
Priest winning with confidence should put him near the top of the card on SmackDown going forward. It is more likely that means he will be a future challenger for Jacob Fatu soon.
Meanwhile, McIntyre had finally built some momentum off his victory at WrestleMania. This hurts his chances of getting back to the top any time soon.
He has lost every rivalry since his heel turn, and it is starting to make McIntyre look like he cannot back up his words.
It is hard to imagine McIntyre anywhere near the world title scene in 2025. He will need to start stringing together wins for the next couple months to prove otherwise.
Winner: Jey Uso
5 of 5"Main Event" Jey Uso won the big one at WrestleMania 41, capturing the World Heavyweight Championship from Gunther.
Since that time, the question has lingered on whether Jey is ready to carry the torch as the top man on Raw.
He came out at Saturday Night's Main Event with the entire crowd behind him, including a young fan who "Yeeted" with him.
He preceded to work hard to deliver the best match he could with Logan Paul. While it is not likely to be on anyone's match-of-the-year list for 2025, it was still a fun, competitive world title defense.
Alongside his recent defense against Seth Rollins, Jey is delivering in the ring and on the mic. Most importantly, he did not lose at the first major hurdle of his title reign.
While it was unlikely Logan would beat Jey, John Cena delivered a cryptic warning to Main Event before he headed to the ring that could have set up The Last Real Champ taking Jey's gold away from him.
Instead, this was a mere tease of what is to come as Cody Rhodes returned to make sure Cena could not cost Jey his gold.
