Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
John Cena has enjoyed one of the most legendary careers in professional wrestling history, but even he has regrets about how some things played out in the past.
As part of a panel at the Philadelphia Fan Expo this past weekend (h/t Cultaholic.com's Aidan Gibbons), Cena was asked what he would do differently if he could go back in time.
"The time period I wish I had a do-over for was the Ruthless Aggression character," Cena said. "I did nothing with it."
Cena was referring to the very start of his career on the WWE main roster in 2002 when he confronted Kurt Angle and took him to the limit as part of an open challenge.
When asked by Angle what quality he possessed that made him think he could beat a wrestler of Angle's caliber, Cena responded by saying, "Ruthless aggression."
Ruthless aggression was a term uttered by then-WWE CEO Vince McMahon about what he was looking for in a WWE Superstar, and that time period in WWE later became known as the Ruthless Aggression Era.
While Cena had one of the most impactful debuts of the past 25 years, he didn't initially parlay it into much.
It wasn't until later in the year that Cena truly started to gain some traction when he began portraying the Doctor of Thuganomics character, which resulted in a brief heel turn before he became one of the most beloved babyfaces of all time.
Although Cena's career didn't get off to an ideal start, he understood the importance of adapting and evolving, and it led to him becoming the most decorated Superstar in WWE history with 17 world title reigns to his credit.
Even in the midst of his final year as an active wrestler, Cena is still evolving, as evidenced by his shocking heel turn back in March.
Every step of Cena's career may not have been perfect, but even the missteps and hardships contributed to him getting to where he is now, which is near the end of a legendary career.
Priest Reportedly Receiving Internal Praise for Toughness
Former world heavyweight champion Damian Priest has reportedly drawn some rave reviews by those within WWE recently.
According to PWInsider.com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), other WWE talent have been "marveling at the toughness" Priest has shown as of late.
Priest is in the midst of a highly physical rivalry against Drew McIntyre, as they clashed in a hard-hitting Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania 41 before being part of a United States Championship Fatal 4-Way match against Jacob Fatu and LA Knight at Backlash.
During the U.S. title bout, Priest and McIntyre executed a high-risk spot when Priest hit McIntyre with his signature South of Heaven chokeslam through some tables.
WWE head of creative Triple H said during the post-show press conference that Priest "had a tooth knocked loose" amid the chaos.
Although Priest has not had a match since Backlash nearly two weeks ago, all signs point toward him being good to go this weekend when he faces McIntyre in a steel cage match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Given the physical nature of their rivalry thus far, all signs point toward the Priest vs. McIntyre cage match being yet another slobberknocker.
Priest has settled into the midcard since dropping the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther last year, but he continues to show his reliability and the skill set needed to return to the main event scene when the time comes.
Update on Zoey Stark's Knee Injury
New details have emerged on the heels of Zoey Stark suffering what looked to be a serious knee injury during Monday night's episode of Raw.
During the WrestleVotes Q&A on WrestleBinge on Tuesday (h/t Carrier), it was noted that Sportskeeda's Chris Featherstone reported that Stark underwent an MRI and was "headed into surgery."
On Raw, Stark was part of a Triple Threat qualifying match for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match against Rhea Ripley and the returning Kairi Sane.
At one point, Stark attempted to hit Sane with a move off a springboard, but there was some type of miscommunication that resulted in Stark coming up short.
She landed awkwardly and bent her knee in an unnatural direction, which instantly led to Stark grabbing her knee and screaming in pain.
Stark had to be carried out of the ring after being examined by the ringside doctor, while Ripley and Sane finished the match with Ripley earning entry into the MITB ladder match.
WWE has yet to provide an official update regarding the exact nature of Stark's injury, but if she did indeed undergo surgery, it suggests a lengthy absence could be on the horizon.
