BS Meter on Shake-Ups to WWE SmackDown, AEW Plans For MJF and More Rumors
Zoey Stark appeared to suffer a serious knee injury during a Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying match against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane on Monday night's episode of Raw.
Stark attempted to execute a springboard move on Sane, but the timing somehow got disrupted, causing Stark to land awkwardly. Her knee bent in an unnatural way, and she immediately clutched it while writing on the mat.
Raw went to commercial as the ringside doctor tended to Stark, and by the time the break was over, Stark was gone and the match had become a one-on-one encounter between Ripley and Sane.
Both Ripley and Sane took to X late Monday night to offer words of encouragement to Stark:
While WWE has yet to confirm the exact nature of Stark's injury, it looked to be significant, which suggests she may have to miss a substantial amount of time.
The timing was highly unfortunate for Stark since she was getting the opportunity to show what she could do individually following the recent release of her tag team partner Shayna Baszler.
Although Ripley was likely always intended to win the match and qualify for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match, the Triple Threat could have also been a showcase for Stark's remarkable in-ring ability and athleticism.
Instead, Stark now potentially faces a long road to recovery, which is nothing new for her.
Back in 2021, Stark tore her ACL while she was in NXT, which caused her to miss over eight months of action.
A similar timeline this time around would have her back just in time for the 2026 Royal Rumble, although WWE has yet to make an official announcement regarding the exact nature of Stark's injury.
WWE Reportedly Planning Rhodes-Centric Event for Mexico
As WWE looks to increase its influence south of the border, rumors have emerged regarding a major upcoming event in Mexico.
According to WrestleVotes (h/t Andrew Ravens of Athlon Sports), WWE is planning to run multiple live events in Mexico, leading up to a SuperShow Mexico event.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ravens) confirmed WrestleVotes' report, adding that former WWE champion Cody Rhodes will be the top star featured at SuperShow Mexico.
During WrestleMania weekend last month, WWE announced the acquisition of Mexican wrestling promotion AAA.
Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that WWE would be putting on a Worlds Collide event on June 7, featuring wrestlers from both AAA and NXT.
That promises to be excellent promotion for AAA ahead of its Triplemanía Regia show on June 15.
WWE has signed a couple of massive Mexican Superstars in recent months in the form of Penta and Rey Fenix, adding them to a roster that already included Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, Dragon Lee, Angel, Berto and a host of other luchadores.
Those signings may have very well been a precursor to WWE branching out into Mexico more significantly than ever before.
If and when that happens, it makes plenty of sense for Rhodes to be the centerpiece since he is fresh off a yearlong reign as WWE champion, and he is undoubtedly one of WWE's biggest stars.
Rhodes has not appeared on WWE programming since his WrestleMania 41 loss to John Cena, but the fact that WWE is working on plans for him in Mexico suggests his absence could end soon.
Kross Reportedly Moved Merchandise at Raw
Despite his inconsistent usage on WWE programming, Karrion Kross is reportedly gaining a loyal following.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Kross' shirts were "selling quite well" at Monday night's Raw event in Greenville, South Carolina.
Kross was not featured on the show in any capacity, which has not been an uncommon occurrence over the past several months.
In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 41, Kross got involved in the build toward AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul, as he made it clear to AJ that he needed to win at WrestleMania.
Kross even got involved in the match by attempting to hand Styles brass knuckles, but AJ refused, and Paul went on to win.
On the Raw after WrestleMania, Kross appeared in a backstage segment with Styles and received a huge reaction from the live crowd, but he hasn't been seen much since then aside from lurking in the background of some other backstage angles.
Last week, Kross posted a video on X in which he revealed that his shirts would be available for purchase at WWE live events beginning on May 19:
Kross thanked his fans for making it happen, noting that it likely wouldn't have happened without them.
While Kross' success as a merchandise mover has not led to a featured role on Raw, WWE is always well aware of the merchandise numbers and what it means in terms of a wrestler's popularity.
If Kross keeps this up, WWE will almost have no choice other than to utilize him and give him more opportunities moving forward.
