WWE Money in the Bank 2025 Match Card Predictions After Backlash Results

Erik BeastonMay 11, 2025

On the heels of a Backlash premium live event that saw John Cena defeat Randy Orton in a blockbuster main event, WWE sets its sights on its next major live event extravaganza, Money in the Bank.

Emanating from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on June 7, the show will feature two Superstars who will climb the ladder to success, retrieve the Money in the Bank briefcase, and earn themselves a shot at the top men's and women's titles in the company.

That much we know.

What might the rest of the card look like?

Let's take a look.

Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

WWE Money in the Bank

Last year, Drew McIntyre earned his first Money in the Bank Ladder Match victory but was unable to successfully cash in, thanks to his rival, CM Punk. Joining the Scottish Warrior in last year's field were Andrade, Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable, Jey Uso, and LA Knight.

McIntyre figures to be a contender for an appearance in this year's match-up, if he managed to avoid injury after a nasty bump to the arena floor Saturday night. Knight should also factor into this year's plans, making it three appearances in a row in the wildly popular match. Both are main event-quality competitors looking for that entry back into the title picture and there is no better way to get there than via the coveted briefcase.

Just ask Damian Priest, who won the 2023 match and turned it into his first World Heavyweight Championship nearly a year later at WrestleMania 40. More on him in a bit.

Aleister Black, Rusev, Finn Balor, Penta, Rey Fenix, Jacob Fatu, and Bron Breakker are a few competitors to keep an eye on as potential entrants, as are dark horses like JD McDonagh, Austin Theory, and Ludwig Kaiser.

Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Tiffany Stratton won the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match last year and struck gold early in 2025, becoming one of the faces of the division and riding a wave of momentum into WrestleMania 41, where she defeated Charlotte Flair in the biggest match of her career.

While there are unlikely to be any breakout victories like hers that catapult a new Superstar to the top of the card, there are plenty of established stars who can earn a boost through a briefcase win.

Naomi is one who stands out, a long overlooked member of the WWE roster who has done some of her finest work of late and is ready to take that next jump to the top of the women's division. She should be considered the front-runner entering this year's match-up.

Jade Cargill is another who could benefit from a guaranteed title opportunity that she could conceivably hold onto until WrestleMania and challenge for the top prize on either Raw or SmackDown.

A returning Kairi Sane would be a fun addition, Michin is long overdue for a run at one of the top two titles, Chelsea Green is deserving based on her last year of work, and Natalya is a Superstar who can also be slotted into such a match and instantly make it better.

Keep an eye on Roxanne Perez and Giulia, both of whom have made the jump from NXT to the Raw brand and could make an even bigger splash than they already have by earning a win in the PLE's namesake bout.

Women's Tag Team Championship Match

Liv Morgan has missed two episodes of Raw while filming Neon's Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, but should be back in time for Money in the Bank and a potential defense of the Women's Tag Team Championship with partner Raquel Rodriguez.

There are two potential teams that could oppose them, too.

First is Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky, who have found themselves reluctant partners in their battle with Giulia and Perez. A win over them on the May 12 episode of Raw could propel them into contention.

The other is a team that was only hinted at on the pre-Backlash episode of SmackDown as Alexa Bliss confronted Charlotte Flair and suggested they chat. It may be too early on in the infancy of that story for them to be the contenders but it would make for a fresh match-up and kick things off with a bang for the former solo champions.

Unless the goal is to book Morgan and Rodriguez in the ladder match, this feels like the most logical utilization of them, especially as WWE scrambles to figure out what to do with the tag division.

Jey Uso and Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins

Monday Night RAW

The ladder matches typically sell the premium live event alone so WWE can afford to sneak tag team matches such as this one onto the card and not face too much criticism.

Jey Uso and Seth Rollins tore the house down last Monday night on Raw but saw the finish descend into madness when Bron Breakker, Sami Zayn, and CM Punk all got involved in the closing moments of the match.

With the creative direction suggestion Rollins and Co. will battle Uso, Zayn, and Punk for the foreseeable future, a tag match involving some of the parties is a logical placeholder for a potential championship rematch at SummerSlam.

If there are bigger plans for that event, perhaps in the form of a Rollins vs. Roman Reigns match, this would be an ideal place for the Tribal Chief to return, too, while potentially setting the table for Uso vs. Breakker.

Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Damian Priest vs. John Cena

5 of 5
WrestleMania 41

R-Truth's interference in the main event of Backlash will likely lead to a match-up with John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on May 24 from Tampa.

If that is the case, there is a logical followup that includes Damian Priest standing up for his former Judgment Day "teammate" and entering himself into a program with Cena for the top prize in the company.

Cena is all over the marketing for the show and while the card is always subject to change, it is very likely the last time he will compete in the City of Angels.

A quick, ready-made program with Priest that does not rely on an abundance of creative help makes sense and even allows the company to hype up how a win in the Money in the Bank match can lead to sustained championship contention and title opportunities.

That it makes sense within the context of the story only helps strengthen the case for the contest.
