Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Nearly two years since her final match with the company, WWE is reportedly eyeing the potential return of Ronda Rousey at some point.
According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), WWE "still wants to do something" with Rousey.
Her final WWE match took place at SummerSlam 2023 where she lost to real-life friend Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match.
Later that year, Rousey worked a couple of matches on the independent scene and one in ROH, but she hasn't wrestled at all since then, focusing instead on expanding her family with husband Travis Browne.
Rousey and Browne had their second child together in January, which suggests Rousey could return to wrestling in the not-too-distant future if she chooses to do so.
When Rousey first joined WWE in 2018, she was one of the hottest stars in combat sports, fresh off a hugely successful UFC career.
Rousey was part of the first-ever women's main event in WrestleMania history at WrestleMania 35, losing to Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat that also included Charlotte Flair.
After taking time away to have her first child, Rousey returned to win the 2022 women's Royal Rumble match, and she went on to win the SmackDown Women's Championship twice and WWE Women's Tag Team Championships once, adding those accolades to her previous Raw women's title reign.
WWE and UFC are now under the same umbrella known as TKO, so it would make sense for the company to want to work with someone who is a legend in both UFC and WWE, which is the case with Rousey.
Baszler was one of several Superstars released by WWE last week, but Alvarez suggested that the door could be open for her to return at some point as well, especially if Rousey makes it a point to include Baszler in potential future talks about a WWE return.
Reported Details of Paul's Post-Raw Attack on Uso
Logan Paul attacked world heavyweight champion Jey Uso after Raw went off the air Monday night in a move that was reportedly by design on WWE's part.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), WWE "wanted to surprise people" by running the angle after Raw and pushing it on social media.
Jey faced Seth Rollins in the main event of Raw, putting his world heavyweight title on the line. Rollins seemed to be on the verge of winning, but CM Punk arrived and hit Rollins with a steel chair, causing a disqualification.
While Jey was slapping hands with fans after the show, a person in a black hoodie emerged from the crowd and punched the champ. The assailant removed the hoodie to reveal himself as Paul before hightailing it out of the arena.
Paul stepped up to Uso last week and announced his intention to go after the World Heavyweight Championship, and Monday marked the continuation of their rivalry.
Since Uso vs. Paul is not scheduled for Backlash this weekend, it could conceivably take place later this month at Saturday Night's Main Event or next month at Money in the Bank.
The approach WWE took with Paul's attack on Uso is something it did with great success before, as Kevin Owens attacked Cody Rhodes after the show at Bad Blood last year.
Rather than putting it on the premium live event itself, WWE made it seem like a fan happened to catch the altercation on video in the parking lot, and it ended up being an effective storytelling device.
The angle between Paul and Uso after Raw showed that anything can happen at any time in WWE.
Big E Gets Engaged
Former WWE champion Big E announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Kris Yim, on Monday.
Big E took to Instagram to post photos of the ring, the moment he popped the question and an embrace he shared with his wife-to-be.
Included with the photos was the caption: "I can't wait to be your husband, Kris Yim."
Yim is the sister of WWE Superstar "Michin" Mia Yim, and her relationship with Big E has been known publicly for just over a year.
The 39-year-old Big E is among the greatest tag team wrestlers in WWE history, having held tag team gold eight times as a member of New Day.
He also went on to hold the WWE Championship once and Intercontinental Championship twice, proving his worth as a singles star.
Unfortunately, Big E has been sidelined with a neck injury since March 2022, and it remains unclear if or when he will be cleared to return to the ring.
However, Big E has remained a valuable part of the company by partaking in pre-show and post-show panels at premium live events.
