WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from July 6

Erik BeastonJul 7, 2015

There is no other Superstar in wrestling who has been scrutinized for his supposed lack of in-ring skill, then gone out and consistently delivered on the biggest stages imaginable than John Cena. Monday night on Raw, he entered Allstate Arena, home of some of his most vocal and passionate detractors, and delivered another near classic against Cesaro in the night's main event.

With the United States Championship on the line, Cena and the Swiss Superman kept the Chicago fans on the edge of their seats, delivering false finishes and near falls until an Attitude Adjustment from the top rope ended the challenger Cesaro's night on a losing note.

Cena even thwarted a post-match attack by Kevin Owens, much to the dismay of the former NXT champion.

The fans still booed him mercilessly, as they have a tendency to do in the Windy City, but the franchise player again stepped up and proved why he is the hardest-working man in the industry.

And the biggest winner from the July 6 episode of Raw.

Who else earned the coveted label of "winner," and who emerged from Raw the biggest losers, their night either ruined by a lackluster performance or a creatively bankrupt storyline?

Let's take a look.

Winner: Rusev

After weeks of moping around like a lost puppy, the Bulgarian Brute reminded the WWE Universe why he is one of the most dangerous and destructive stars on the roster, demolishing Dolph Ziggler in a Grade A beatdown.

That he was able to remove his walking boot is a great sign in that it means the former United States champion is close to returning to in-ring competition.

The assault that he dealt to Ziggler was violent, brutal and completely fit the story being told. So frustrated was he by the loss of Lana, he let his frustration boil over to the point that he dismantled another man and forced him from the arena on a stretcher.

This did wonders to bring an edge of seriousness to a program that has felt too much like a high school love story rather than an intriguing storyline worthy of wrestling fans' time and energy. And much of that was due to the intensity and aggression demonstrated by Rusev.

Losers: Dean Ambrose and WWE Creative

Yes, the Lunatic Fringe scored a big win over Bo Dallas, but he once again finds himself lost in the shuffle.

For someone so incredibly popular, Dean Ambrose continues to find himself at the mercy of WWE Creative. Too often, he has been heated up, then cooled down as the writing staff struggles to consistently come up with things for him to do.

That is a tremendous indictment given the fact that Ambrose is the most over guy on the roster. Instead of being cemented as one of the two or three biggest babyfaces on the roster following his program with Seth Rollins, Ambrose again has nowhere to go and nothing to do.

In many ways, it feels as though WWE Creative has no idea how to use him when he is not opposing The Authority. And therein lies a major problem. Right now, the writing staff knows only one story—and that story revolves around Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

To maximize the talents of guys like Ambrose, Superstars who find themselves on a treadmill of sorts when it comes to booking, the writers must be creative, must tell stories and must get the absolute most out of the talents they have at their disposal; otherwise, certain wrestlers risk wasting their prime years on meaningless matches and angles that no one will remember because they did not involve the big, bad Authority.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

After what was a stupid, illogical and ridiculous beatdown angle a few weeks back, Brock Lesnar returned to Raw Monday night and was full of fury and rage as he stalked after WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins.

Alas, he did not get his hands on the Architect but destroyed the Cadillac that was presented to J&J Security as a gift, ripping the door off of the vehicle and tossing it several feet in the other direction. It was the culmination of a great segment that certainly has fans excited to see the Beast Incarnate get his hands on the slimy, opportunistic champion at Battleground.

The biggest box-office draw the company has at this point, there is something about Lesnar's appearances on Raw that bring a legitimacy and credibility to the product that others simply do not. He helps bring meaning to shows, as was the case Monday night. Without him and his destruction of the vehicle, the broadcast would have been another meandering three-hour snooze-fest.

Loser: Brie Bella

Whereas sister Nikki has developed into one of the most improved wrestlers of the year, Brie Bella has spent 2015 getting progressively worse.

Her offense does not look like it could hurt a fly, and that hurts the quality of her matches. She looks wildly inexperienced, like a newcomer afraid they may hurt the person they are working with. It showed Monday night during her match with Paige, not to mention this past Thursday when she worked Naomi in singles competition.

Perhaps watching everything her husband, Daniel Bryan, has gone through with his injuries, which were at least partially caused by the high-impact style he incorporates, has made her more cautious. Whatever the case may be, she looks apprehensive and has clearly been the worst wrestler in the ring whenever she has competed over the last few months.

A fry cry from the end of 2014, when she was developing into a good worker.
