WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Biggest Talking Points Following Major Event

Aaron BowerOct 27, 2014

Hell in a Cell 2014 provided talking points aplenty following a pretty explosive show. While there were some solid matches across the card, it was the main event that provided a fitting end to a decent show.

But all across the card, we now have a healthy amount of issues to focus on as the first Raw following HIAC airs on Monday night.

The drama surrounding the main event was just the tip of the iceberg—from Rusev to Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton to Cesaro, we have much to talk about after the WWE's latest pay-per-view.

But what in particular were the biggest talking points from Hell in a Cell moving forward over the next few weeks? Let's take a look.

What Next for Rusev?

1 of 5

Rusev's WWE undefeated streak continued apace at Hell in a Cell with another comprehensive victory on pay-per-view.

After seeing off what feels like all realistic challengers in the middle of the card, the question now has to be asked: Where does Rusev go from here?

Going back around with Big Show and/or Mark Henry seems pointless—that has been done to death now, and a fresh angle is needed for Rusev to continue his momentum forward.

Raw will probably provide a clearer picture for us, but the challenge is now set for WWE Creative to find a new angle for Rusev and Lana.

Hold on, did someone say Angle?

Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro Should Go Around Again

2 of 5

Alex Riley got it pretty much spot-on when talking on the panel at Hell in a Cell: Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro are WWE's two most talented workers on the roster.

It seemed inevitable that they would clash at some point, and thankfully we got a good glimpse of both of them at HIAC.

Sure, the absence of a third and decisive fall in the 2-out-of-3 Falls format was a bit of a negative, but Ziggler fans will have been delighted that he was able to post a convincing victory on pay-per-view.

However, Cesaro should get his chance to exact revenge, not least because the rivalry is incredibly compelling.

The two have great chemistry, and it's pretty clear that the fans want to see them together.

Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins Now Seems Inevitable

3 of 5

After the events of the final Raw before Hell in a Cell, the odds on a Randy Orton face turn at the event were strong.

There was a path for WWE Creative to take the turn on pay-per-view, but that didn't transpire.

However, with Orton losing—and Dean Ambrose now heading in a different direction with Bray Wyatt—it seems like Seth Rollins' next opponent is indeed going to be The Viper.

There doesn't even really have to be a turn of sorts—Orton could be a good "tweener," with Rollins very much acting as the corporate heel.

What's exciting is that there are all sorts of directions the WWE could take this rivalry. Let's just hope that if it does happen, it delivers.

John Cena Becoming No. 1 Contender Again

4 of 5

As is often the case, a familiar story played out with John Cena at a pay-per-view: Cena battles longstanding rival, Cena triumphs against adversity.

And once again, Cena is now in pole position to become the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion after setting up a bout with Brock Lesnar at...well, nobody is quite sure.

Lesnar's inactivity means that it's unclear as to when the bout will actually take place. But given how Cena lost heavily first time up and then won via DQ, the odds of him losing again to Brock is slim.

Maybe the WWE didn't have anything worthwhile for Cena apart from another feud with Lesnar, or maybe they feel he's the best fit to be the next champion.

But whatever the reason, Cena's win at HIAC was without a doubt one of the biggest talking points.

Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt Could Be Spectacular

5 of 5

In many ways, the ending to Hell in a Cell was booking perfection from the WWE.

An Attitude Era-esque twist at the end was one thing, but on another level, Bray Wyatt's attack on Dean Ambrose keeps the door open for a Seth Rollins vs. Ambrose feud further down the line.

Besides, you can guarantee nobody expected Wyatt to come out and take down the WWE's latest poster boy.

With just the odd promo in recent weeks, Wyatt had become a distant memory—which is exactly what the WWE wanted. That meant that when he did return, it was explosive. Boy, did they achieve that in some style.

Raw with a scorned Dean Ambrose is going to be unmissable; that much you can guarantee. Throw a rejuvenated Wyatt back into the mix, and you have one heck of a rivalry on your hands.
