WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Latest Predictions Including John Cena vs. Randy Orton

Aaron BowerOct 23, 2014

With no WWE World Heavyweight Champion in attendance, the upcoming edition of Hell in a Cell is likely the first of several pay-per-views that will feature double main events.

This time, there's another outing of John Cena vs. Randy Orton, with the winner guaranteed a shot at current champion Brock Lesnar in the coming months.

But the real main event is arguably Seth Rollins locked inside The Cell with former Shield ally Dean Ambrose, which is sure to be a pulsating and gripping contest.

But they aren't the only matches taking place at HIAC, with six other matches booked.

With the show just days away, let's take a tentative look at some predictions for each match scheduled on the card.

Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella

1 of 8

Once more, we have two Divas matches on the card for a WWE pay-per-view, with The Bella Twins squaring off against each other again.

At one point it was being suggested that this match would actually take place inside The Cell; we can be thankful that the WWE managed to actually pull the plug on that idea.

However, there is an interesting stipulation attached to the match where the loser becomes the winner's assistant for a full month. If the loser refuses, she'll be immediately fired on the spot.

With that in mind, it's hard to imagine how Nikki Bella could possibly lose in this instance. Having Brie as her assistant—and toying over whether to walk away from the company—would give this storyline fresh impetus heading toward Christmas.

Nikki seems to have drifted away from her allegiance with Stephanie McMahon in recent weeks too, which makes it all the more important that the WWE ensure this storyline can stand up on its own.

AJ Lee vs. Paige

2 of 8

A few weeks ago, the thought of AJ Lee vs. Paige—arguably the WWE's two most relevant and talented female competitors—sounded like brilliant booking.

But when it comes to Hell in a Cell, this match should be a lot more exciting than it ultimately feels. Throwing the likes of Layla and Alicia Fox into this rivalry seemed a good idea at first but has eventually taken the spotlight from Lee and Paige.

Of course, there's still genuine hope that the match itself will be a great spectacle for the Divas division.

In terms of the result, you get the impression this could go either way. After Lee's lengthy reign as champion was brought to an end by Paige the night after WrestleMania XXX, the title has become a bit of a hot potato.

The likely winner? AJ Lee.

Goldust and Stardust vs. The Usos

3 of 8

Goldust and Stardust haven't exactly enjoyed a strong start to their reign as WWE tag team champions—far from it, in fact.

A couple of non-title losses haven't helped to maintain their credibility as reputable champions, something of which the WWE are making a bit of a habit all the way down the card.

Having the champions become tough to beat is a cornerstone of building strong titleholders—not least because when a defeat does occur, it is much more satisfying to see it unfold.

That said, The Usos themselves haven't really been given much of a storyline to work with here, as the WWE still seems obsessed with throwing additional participants into their matches in recent weeks.

It's important for the tag division to get a shot in the arm at Hell in a Cell, so hopefully an enjoyable match is rounded off with The Rhodes Brothers continuing to intrigue as champions.

Big Show vs. Rusev

4 of 8

Big Show and Mark Henry's obsession with Rusev has led to the Bulgarian taking on another of the WWE's big men at Hell in a Cell, with Show and Rusev squaring off on pay-per-view.

In truth, the two men have had a pretty interesting dynamic in recent weeks which was improved on the final Raw before Hell in a Cell.

Having the American flag come down rather than the Russian one was a nice twist that helped to generate some heat for Rusev heading into the pay-per-view. What happened next, though, was even more impressive from WWE Creative. They had an outraged solider try to make his way into the ring and confront Rusev—only to be met by a superkick to the face.

Show then cut a nice promo to round off the build for this feud, which should make for a fairly decent addition to the midcard at HIAC.

In terms of the result, it's almost impossible to see anyone other than Rusev continuing his undefeated streak. And don't rule out some sort of intrusion from Mark Henry, too.

Sheamus vs. The Miz

5 of 8

The WWE's two midcard championships have gone through something of a swap in the last month. Whereas The Miz was battling for the Intercontinental Championship in recent weeks, he's now going after Sheamus and the United States Championship.

We haven't really seen the best of this rivalry yet, although we did get a good glimpse at the third man pushed into this feud on Raw this past week.

Damien Sandow's involvement in the match is sure to cause both amusement and enjoyment—in fact, he should be commended for the way he has pulled off the role of Miz's stunt double. The crowd were even starting to make some noise for him during that six-man tag match on Raw, perhaps suggesting that Sandow himself could be on the way back up.

You would imagine some sort of involvement from Sandow in this match is a given, which could well lead to a new United States Champion being crowned at HIAC.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro

6 of 8

When the final bell rings at Hell in a Cell, there's a serious possibility that Dolph Ziggler—and Cesaro—will have stolen the show.

It's great to see Ziggler back in some sort of meaningful position on the WWE roster, and he's been striking up some nice chemistry with Cesaro since their rivalry began a few weeks ago.

Both men are incredibly talented, as we both know, but they also both carry a high level of popularity among WWE fans, which in itself will hopefully lead to a fascinating contest at Hell in a Cell.

With two naturally gifted wrestlers given the freedom of a 2-out-of-3 Falls match, we'll hopefully get some lengthy spells of wrestling in this match.

And if it goes down to the final fall, there's every possibility we'll have had one of the most exciting matches in recent months—with a successful defence for Ziggler looking the likelier of the two results.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton

7 of 8

Here we are again, folks. John Cena and Randy Orton are to square off once more on pay-per-view—but enjoy it, because it may be the last one for quite some time.

A turn for Randy Orton looks likely in the coming days and weeks, meaning that another chapter will close on one of the most utilized rivalries in recent WWE history.

Naturally, there's not a great deal of hype heading into the match, given how it was pieced together off the back of Cena losing out to Dean Ambrose for the right to face Seth Rollins.

What's more interesting here is how the match actually comes to its conclusion. Could the influence of Seth Rollins come into play and potentially cost Randy Orton a future shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship?

Given how the prospect of Cena vs. Brock Lesnar hardly excites, though, it looks like Orton could be the one who comes out on top—perhaps with an interference from The Authority.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

8 of 8

As it should be in the world of professional wrestling, the main event at Hell in a Cell has by far the most hype, excitement and anticipation surrounding it.

It's a match that wrestling purists have been waiting for for a while now—and rightly so, as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins' feud has done more than capture the imagination.

With the likes of Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns out of the picture, the feud has helped carry the company throughout the summer months, with a number of twists and swerves keeping everyone on their toes. Both Rollins and Ambrose seem to be at the peak of their powers right now, and The Cell structure should be guaranteed to bring the very best out of both men.

But with Rollins stomping Randy Orton's head into the mat on the final Raw before HIAC, is there going to be some sort of interference from The Viper?

If his proposed face turn does happen at the pay-per-view, it's going to be at the expense of Seth Rollins—leading to a win for The Lunatic Fringe over his nemesis at long last.
