WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Matches That Will Leave Fans Wanting More

Sharon GlencrossOct 16, 2014

No doubt several of the matches at WWE's upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view will entertain and enthrall fans—and serve as a tantalizing hint of what is to come.

The Miz vs. Sheamus—which WWE officially announced earlier this week—is one bout that could mark the beginning of a fun midcard feud. Eager to get his hands on Sheamus' United States Championship, you can be assured that The Miz will be willing to do anything to garner the win.

Miz's friend Damien Sandow (or “Mizdow” as he's now known) will likely get involved in the finish too.

A Sheamus vs. The Miz program probably won't do big numbers or revive the Raw product, but it's actually got the potential to be a fairly good feud. Going by their interaction on television over the past few weeks, the pair have a compelling chemistry, both in and out of the ring.

And Sandow is thriving in his current sidekick role—pretty much everything he does these days is deeply hilarious.

Hopefully, the Hell in a Cell match will be the beginning of a long-term feud between Miz and Sheamus for the United States belt.

Rusev vs. The Big Show is another match at the event that should be decent.

The storyline—the patriotic babyface vs. the foreign heel—isn't particularly original, but both men are doing their very best with it.

Big Show has always been a tremendous actor and can easily sell the emotional impact of this feud. Fans can really feel the great pressure he is putting on himself to pull out a victory in Dallas.

For his part, Rusev emanates the menacing aura and presence that WWE requires from a future top heel. Lana is also emerging as one of the best female wrestling managers in a long time. Really, it's a winning act.

There’s even a good chance the match itself will be very respectable, even if it’s not a technical masterpiece. Rusev’s gotten a lot better in the ring over the past few months, and Big Show always tries. Give them enough time, and they'll surely be able to produce something decent.

Expect Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins to deliver a strong match too.

OK, so Hell in a Cell probably should be the end of their program for now—it seems the natural culmination of their long-running rivalry. But expect the clash to leave fans eager to see the duo face off again in the future—possibly at a future WrestleMania for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

It’s not an exaggeration that Ambrose vs. Rollins has the makings of an all-time feud, like The Rock vs. Steve Austin or Ric Flair vs. Sting.

In years to come, we may look back on Hell in a Cell and see it as the first classic match of their legendary feud. For that reason alone, the pay-per-view is probably worth checking out.
