WWE NXT: Full Preview, Rumors and More for October 9
Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for the Oct. 9 episode of NXT on the WWE Network. Spoilers are already out there, but if you want to know what will happen without having the matches spoiled for you, you're in the right place.
The people in charge of booking NXT have found a formula for their shows that seems to work. Each week, we see one match from the women, one from the tag teams and a few from the men.
This pattern guarantees that every division in NXT gets the attention it needs, something those in charge of the main roster don't always manage to do so well.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
If you're a fan of WWE and you are not watching NXT, you are depriving yourself of some great entertainment. Let's take a look at what this week has in store for us.
The Women
The only match featuring the women of NXT to take place this week will be Becky Lynch vs. Sasha "I'm not Ratchet" Banks.
The former BFF of the women's champion has been eying a shot at the gold for herself ever since parting ways with Charlotte, and beating Lynch would be a step toward making that happen.
Lynch might not be a force to be reckoned with in NXT just yet, but she'll get there. This is a woman who has the experience and the skills to make it happen. She just needs more time.
WWE clearly has Charlotte marked for future greatness, and Bayley is right there with her as the next likely call-up from developmental, which means it's only a matter of time before Lynch gets some more of the spotlight for herself.
Banks could also thrive in the Divas division, but she has to polish her ring work a bit. She has the charisma needed to be a good character; now, she needs to develop the skills to be a good wrestler.
It's going to be a nice change of pace to see a match that doesn't include Bayley or Charlotte. Let's hope Banks and Lynch can prove that the future of the Divas division looks brighter than what we are currently seeing on the main roster.
The Tag Teams
The Vaudevillains and The Realest Guys in the Room will be in tag team action this week when Aiden English and Simon Gotch battle Enzo Amore and Colin "Big Cass" Cassady.
With The Ascension focusing their anger at Hideo Itami, that leaves the No. 1 contender's spot for The Lucha Dragons' titles open.
Each duo has a good chance of being the next team to face Kalisto and Sin Cara for their belts, and this match could be a good indication of which team it will be.
Logic would usually dictate that a heel team would battle the babyface champions next, making The Vaudevillains the most likely candidates, but the line between good and evil has become blurred in the WWE Universe.
It's becoming more and more common for babyfaces and heels to fight one another, meaning either team could be in line to face Kalisto and Sin Cara for the Tag Team Championships.
Cassady and Amore are coming off a successful feud with Sylvester LeFort and Marcus Louis, so they have momentum on their side. On the other hand, Gotch and English have been making headway in the division for quite some time.
Regardless of who ends up winning, this should be an entertaining bout. Both teams have the kind of violent energy that gives them an edge and makes their performances more realistic.
The Men
The first singles bout of the evening might see a new feud beginning in NXT. This match came about after Tyler Breeze attacked Mojo Rawley for no reason two weeks ago while Rawley was on his way to the back following another loss to Bull Dempsey
This is a big step down for Breeze after being a fixture in the NXT title scene for the past several months, but this could also be viewed as a big step up for Rawley.
Being decisively destroyed by Dempsey on more than one occasion has brought Rawley down a few rungs, but he might climb his way back up the ladder with a win over one of NXT's most established stars.
A victory for Rawley is much more beneficial to him than a win would be to Breeze, but the loss would affect Breeze far more than it would Rawley. With that said, it seems pretty obvious who is going to come out on top when one man has been booked so much better than the other.
Another budding feud that will get some attention this week is the one developing between The Ascension and Hideo Itami. Viktor was set to face Itami last week, but The Ascension chose to make a statement and lay out their rival instead of competing in a match.
This week is Itami's chance to pick up another win in NXT and get a little revenge for the pain he has had to endure at the hands of Konnor and Viktor.
This storyline began back at Takeover 2 when The Ascension chose to attack Itami during his debut promo. They were sent packing that night, but they have been making his life a living hell ever since.
Getting a real victory over Viktor would give Itami a bit of satisfaction, but don't expect this feud to end anytime soon.
Even if it's just for a short time, odds are good that Itami will team up with someone to battle The Ascension eventually. It might even be one of the other new stars signed to NXT, such as Finn Balor or Kevin Steen.
The main event for this week will see a Superstar from the main roster return to his developmental roots to take on someone who is sure to be a breakout star when he eventually gets called up.
Titus O'Neil will be battling Sami Zayn in what could be a game-changing match. O'Neil hasn't found much success since turning heel on Darren Young, but NXT might be where he gets his groove back.
Tyson Kidd was floundering on the main roster, and going down to NXT helped him prove what he is capable of. He might not be in the best storyline at the moment, but there is no denying that Kidd is better off after having spent some time in Florida.
O'Neil already has one win over Zayn and Adrian Neville, albeit in a tag team match. If O'Neil is able to score another victory over Zayn, it would certainly place him right in the center of the drama surrounding the NXT Championship.
Zayn hasn't tried to hide his desire to defeat Neville for the belt, but if O'Neil were to go over Zayn, he might have a good argument for why he deserves a title shot too.
The great thing about this matchup will be the clash of styles. O'Neil is very powerful and uses his strength to control his opponents, while Zayn is a technical high-flyer who can hit you from any angle with a variety of different maneuvers.
It looks like it's going to be another good week for NXT. What match are you looking forward to the most?
