WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 10/06/2014

Alex MussoOct 6, 2014

It was an interesting week in the WWE, and the WWE Superstar Power Rankings have seen some changes to reflect that.  Dean Ambrose and John Cena look to have an uneasy truce as Ambrose moves his way up the rankings.

Also, Big Show and Mark Henry now have separate rankings.  They were advertised as a team previously, but it's clear they've gone separate directions.  And speaking of Big Show, he may have ruffled some international feathers.  More on that and more in the following slides.  Before we move on, though, please read how these rankings work.

Holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding a Money in the Bank briefcase counts for much of a wrestler's ranking, and these honors are therefore the most heavily weighted components in the rankings.  If a wrestler is tied with another wrestler, holding a title will be a tiebreaker.

Wins and losses account for the bulk of the week-to-week movement—wins and losses are, after championships, the most important component of the rankings.  The quality of a wrestler's opponents and whether they are ranked is considered in the week-to-week movement.

"Getting the better" of someone—like beating someone down—as well as "getting got" also counts, though not as much as wins and losses.  Being "over" with the fans is considered but not heavily weighted in the ranking decisions.  Pay-per-view performances take on added importance.

Only the top 10 wrestlers are ranked.  Wrestlers on the Watch List were considered for top-10 status but were ultimately nixed.  They are unranked, and their listing is in no particular order.

Generally speaking, these rankings do not break kayfabe, though any major non-storyline information (serious injury, WWE Wellness Policy violations, legitimate hirings, firings, contract information, "sabbaticals," etc.) may be taken into consideration, especially if WWE confirms them publicly.  Nothing that could be explicitly considered a spoiler is included unless WWE acknowledges it as well.

All WWE shows, televised or digitally distributed, as well as anything from WWE.com, the WWE App, the WWE Network and any WWE or Superstar social media accounts that don't break kayfabe may be taken into consideration for these rankings.  This includes but is not limited to WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, WWE Main Event, WWE Superstars, NXT and any WWE pay-per-view.

Watch List

1 of 11

Cesaro

Cesaro turned in a solid performance in a Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw, but he was ultimately unsuccessful.  He made up for it with victories over Jack Swagger on Main Event and R-Truth on SmackDown.  Can he build on that success this week?

Bo Dallas

Two wins over Mark Henry this week help Bo Dallas get back into the Watch List.  He paid dearly for those wins, but they were some of the biggest of his career thus far.  Will he have another good week?

The Usos

After being idle for Raw and Main Event, Jimmy Uso defeated Stardust on Superstars.  On SmackDown, they picked up a win over Slater Gator in a strange, animal-filled match.  Can they keep up their winning ways?

10. Gold and Stardust

2 of 11

Previous Rank: 9

Movement: Down 1

It wasn't a great week for the WWE tag team champions.  The only match of the week featuring the strange brothers was Stardust's loss to Jimmy Uso on Superstars.

Fortunately, since it was on Superstars, very few people saw it.  Out of sight, out of mind?  Gold and Stardust need to get on a roll, though.  Jimmy and Jey Uso are starting to pick some wins, and the champs ought to keep pace.

9. Big Show

3 of 11

Previous Rank: 10 (as a team with Mark Henry)

Movement: Up 1

Big Show made waves this week when he ran off Rusev on Raw and then proceeded to tear down the Russian flag that was suspended over the ring.  It was an event that prompted WWE to issue an apology.

But on SmackDown, Big Show refused to apologize to Rusev.  And it cost him.  Rusev attacked him with a flag, and beat him down, getting revenge for Big Show's "offensive" actions.  How will Big Show respond?

8. AJ Lee

4 of 11

Previous Rank: 6

Movement: Down 2

WWE Divas champion AJ Lee competed in one match this past week, a bout with Alicia Fox.  She lost after Paige distracted her.  Then, she was attacked by Paige after the match.

She attacked Alicia Fox on SmackDown, and it might be a safe bet to predict AJ and Fox will have a match of some kind this week.  Can AJ avenge her loss while keeping Paige at bay?

7. Rusev

5 of 11

Previous Rank: 7

Movement: None

Rusev was not pleased this week after Big Show "disrespected" the Russian flag on Raw.  WWE issued an apology for the incident, but that wasn't enough for Rusev and Lana.

On SmackDown, they were upset Big Show would not apologize as well, so Rusev attacked Big Show with a flag.  Perhaps it was nationalism or frustration with his inability to defeat Big Show.  We'll surely find out more this week from Lana.

6. Dean Ambrose

6 of 11

Previous Rank: 8

Movement: Up 2

Dean Ambrose is quickly moving up the rankings and is occupying the position Roman Reigns held before his injury.  And this week, he picked up two wins over quality opponents and constantly harassed Seth Rollins.

He and John Cena teamed up on both Raw and SmackDown, getting wins over Kane and Randy Orton both times.  Both matches were also wins via disqualification after Seth Rollins interfered both times.  And both nights, Dean Ambrose was beaten down for his trouble.

But he also rigged the Money in the Bank briefcase (which he had stolen the week prior) to spray green goo at Seth Rollins when he returned it.  They don't call him the Lunatic Fringe for no reason.  What will Ambrose do next?

5. Seth Rollins

7 of 11

Previous Rank: 4

Movement: Down 1

Seth Rollins had the stones to attempt a Money in the Bank cash-in on Brock Lesnar.  When Paul Heyman showed up to confront him about it, Rollins held his own.  Though he did apologize for offending Lesnar, he also said he wanted to become champion by beating the best.  Perhaps he's sincere, or maybe he just wanted to avoid a massive beating.

As mentioned before, he got his Money in the Bank Briefcase back this week—and a face full of green goo along with it.  In retribution, he, along with Kane and Randy Orton, beat down John Cena and Dean Ambrose on Raw.  When he tried the same thing on SmackDown, though, he was run off by John Cena.

Can Rollins get back into the win column this week?  Will he even have a match?

4. Dolph Ziggler

8 of 11

Previous Rank: 5

Movement: Up 1

Dolph Ziggler once again defended his Intercontinental Championship this past week.  He faced Cesaro and The Miz in a Triple Threat match and pinned Miz for the win.  Later in the week on SmackDown, he teamed with Sheamus in a win over Miz and Damien "Mizdow."

He's consistently shown he can defend his title in tough circumstances.  And even when he lost the title, he gained it back the next day.  It looks like he'll have to watch out for Cesaro, who is likely the first in line for a title shot.  But Miz wants another shot, too, saying he never got his one-on-one rematch.  Ziggler better keep an eye on each of them

3. Sheamus

9 of 11

Previous Rank: 3

Movement: None

United States champion Sheamus holds steady at No. 3 this week after picking up two more wins.  He defeated Damien Mizdow on Raw, and then teamed with Dolph Ziggler in a win over Miz and Mizdow on SmackDown.

It's unclear at the moment who will step up to challenge Sheamus for the U.S. title.  If Cesaro challenges Ziggler, then perhaps Miz moves in to challenge Sheamus.  Or maybe there will be no challenger for a while.  After all, it's not unusual for the U.S. title to go undefended at a pay-per-view.

2. Brock Lesnar

10 of 11

Previous Rank: 2

Movement: None

Once again, Brock Lesnar did not appear on WWE television this week.  But Paul Heyman, Lesnar's advocate, had some words for Seth Rollins.  Heyman seemed satisfied with Rollins' explanation of his actions.

With WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 coming up, who, if anyone, will step up to face Lesnar?  Will it be Cena, who defeated Lesnar at Night of Champions?  Will it be Seth Rollins?  Will Lesnar even be at the pay-per-view at all?  Perhaps we'll get answers this week.

1. John Cena

11 of 11

Previous Rank: 1

Movement: None

John Cena picked up two wins this week, both as a team with Dean Ambrose and both over Kane and Randy Orton.  The wins were also via DQ.  On Raw, he was beaten down as Seth Rollins interfered.  But on SmackDown, he chased away Rollins, leaving Ambrose to be assaulted.

That came less than two hours after he and Ambrose had called a truce in their rivalry to see who would get to face Rollins first.  It's kind of a silly thing to fight over, seeing as they could attack him together and annihilate him.  But that might be overthinking it just a tad.

Cena wants Rollins.  And he may have to go through Ambrose to get to him.  Is their truce over already?  We're sure to hear about it on Raw.
