WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from October 2, 2014

Erik BeastonOct 3, 2014

It was Championship Thursday this week on NXT, as the brand delivered not one but two outstanding title bouts featuring some of the best and brightest stars on the entire WWE roster.

First, Charlotte continued to prove her greatness by successfully defending the women's title against Bayley. Later in the night, Adrian Neville benefited from extracurricular activity involving Sami Zayn and Titus O'Neil and was able to put away Tyson Kidd in a tremendous main event, ensuring that Kidd would never get another NXT title shot as long as The Man Who Gravity Forgot was champion.

Baron Corbin continued his recent roll, tearing through Troy McClain, while The Vaudevillains positioned themselves as top contenders to the tag team titles with a victory over Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.

With one of the better weekly shows in recent NXT history in the books, the future appears bright for the brand of young, aspiring WWE Superstars.

Who left Thursday's show winners, their heads held high? Have a look-see.

Winner: Charlotte

The daughter of the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair has developed into one of the best female wrestlers in all of WWE in just over a year, something it typically takes performers much longer to accomplish.

A superb athlete with a great mind for the business, she understands both the technical and psychological aspects of the mat game, not to mention the little intricate details that set legitimate wrestlers apart from those just doing moves.

The way she picked Bayley's knee apart and continued to work over it throughout the match, using subtle maneuvers such as a knee to the back of the leg to stunt her opponent's comeback, was reminiscent of a performer with much less experience than the 28-year-old.

Thursday night, just as she did the night she captured the NXT Women's Championship, Charlotte proved why so many consider her the future of women's wrestling in WWE.

Loser: Troy McClain

Unfortunately for Mr. McClain, he was faced with the unenviable task of squaring off with the red-hot Baron Corbin, who has established himself as a candidate for breakout star in NXT. If the reaction from the fans was any indication, Corbin will be a big star sooner than later.

McClain was rolled over and dominated by the biker, who put him away with an End of Days after only 35 seconds.

It's tough out there for a jobber. McClain found out why Thursday night.

Winner: Adrian Neville

The NXT champion not only defeated and exorcised the demon that was Tyson Kidd from title contention, but he did so after enduring a Sharpshooter late in the match and a vicious clothesline from an interfering Titus O'Neil, demonstrating not only his will to win but his toughness as well.

Neville has been the backbone of NXT throughout 2014, its face and its champion, for a reason. He has consistently delivered in the ring, especially when paired up with the great Kidd, and is clearly being groomed for a spot on the main roster at some point in the future.

When that time comes, WWE fans will be treated to an athlete the likes of which they have never seen before. Not only is he absolutely ripped, chiseled out of stone, but he has speed, agility and high-flying ability like no other.

Winners: The Vaudevillains

Aiden English and Simon Gotch were conspicuous by their absence both at NXT Takeover as well as the television proceeding it, but they returned to the brand with an impressive win over Tye Dillinger and Jason Jordan that should put them in contention for a tag team title match against The Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara and Kalisto) in the coming weeks.

The fans inside Full Sail University were red hot for the Vaudevillains, chanting "Put up your dukes" and "You're not manly" at their opponents. The support the act has received since debuting a few months back has been outstanding and sets up an interesting scenario in which the supposed villains are actually more popular than the champions they will eventually challenge.

Loser: Bayley

No one wants to call Bayley a loser; quite the contrary. The most likable and adorable Diva in WWE turned in an outstanding performance against Charlotte this week and reminded fans why she is the top contender to the NXT Women's Championship. At the end of the night, however, she still managed to fall to the second-generation Diva.

Worse yet, she was brutally attacked backstage by Sasha Banks later in the night, ending her evening on a sour note and leaving many to wonder what is next for the young woman.
