Mark Sanchez took over the first-team reins for Foles, via Eagles Insider:
Last year, Foles had one of the better second seasons for a quarterback in recent memory. So this injury has to be frustrating, as he is still looking to prove he can consistently perform at that level. The former Arizona star took over for Michael Vick full time in Week 5 last season and did not look back. He threw for 2,891 yards and 27 touchdowns against just two interceptions, leading the NFL with a 119.2 quarterback rating.
Even the advanced metrics backed Foles up. Only Peyton Manning defeated him in Football Outsiders' DVOA rankings, and Pro Football Focus (subscription required) actually graded him a smidgen better than the five-time league MVP.

Chip Kelly's system emphasized Foles' strengths by forcing him to get the ball out early and make quick reads. During his rookie campaign in Andy Reid's more complicated system, Foles looked flummoxed when under pressure or asked to go to his third and fourth progressions. Kelly eliminated the need with his rule-based looks and simplified nearly everything.
The result saw Foles become one of the league's best downfield and intermediate passers. Despite his smaller sample size, Foles tied for second behind Drew Brees in touchdown passes that traveled at least 20 yards in the air; nearly three-quarters of his passes were deemed catchable, and he even showed marked improvements under pressure (h/t Pro Football Focus).
