Predictions for LeBron James, Kevin Durant and NBA Superstars This Week
Yesterday there were some absolutely massive games from Rajon Rondo and Deron Williams. Rondo had a gargantuan triple-double, scoring 18 points with 17 rebounds and 18 assists. Meanwhile, Williams had 57 points. In honor of their performances, we're going to take a look at this week's schedule and predict the biggest performances for each day of the week.
Monday: Derrick Rose
Rose will have a huge game tonight. He's looking for back-to-back revenge games as both the Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers beat the Chicago Bulls earlier this year. The Pacers beat them in the United Center and the team's celebration could be heard in the Bulls locker room.
At the time Rose said, "I'll never forget how they celebrated just from winning this game," Rose told reporters. "I can't wait to play them again."
Rose had a game earlier this year where he'd anticipated revenge in Los Angeles when he took on the Chris Paul led Clippers. Rose is averaging 28 points and nine assists in "revenge" games this season against teams who had beaten him in the previous matchup. This one means even more to him. A 40-point, 10 assist night tonight isn't a stretch.
Tuesday: LeBron James
James has had some of his most complete games coming off of losses this year, averaging 24 points, nine boards and nine dimes after the Heat loss. He'll be going up against the Nets, the not so proud owners of the NBA's worst defense. Look for 30 points and a triple-double from James on Tuesday night.
Wednesday: Tony Parker
Parker will be the latest superstar point guard to take advantage of the Jeremy Lin matchup. Considering that Parker has not only had a year that should have him as a top six or seven candidate for MVP and has gotten just a tiny percentage of the attention that Lin has, and that's being generous.
Parker will be playing to prove something on Wednesday night, and he will prove it. Look for him to have around 30 points and eight assists.
Thursday: Dirk Nowitzki
Nowitzki will be going against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night in one of only two games on the schedule. Nowitzki has been getting things going lately and the Suns give up the fifth-most production to opposing power forwards. Look for Dirk to go off against the Suns and put up around 30 points and seven boards.
Friday: Dwight Howard
Howard will have an absolutely monster game this Friday. He has some great matchups this week, but Friday is almost unfair as he'll be going against the New Jersey Nets, who give up the second-most production to opposing centers.
Howard is averaging 21 points and 15 boards against the average NBA center. He's going to bludgeon the Nets. A 20/20 game is almost guaranteed, and a 30-point, 20 board performance is realistic.
Saturday: Kevin Durant
Durant will be facing off against the same Charlotte Bobcats that Deron Williams just blistered for 57 points. If Williams can go off for 57, what can Durant do? We probably won't feel the same total effect from Durant because a) he won't have to do it alone and b) he won't end up playing much in the fourth quarter, but I expect he'll score 40 points and sit the fourth.
Sunday: Kobe Bryant
Bryant will be going against the Boston Celtics on Sunday in a nationally televised game. Kobe is one of those guys who plays his best when the brightest lights are on him and he loves playing against Boston as well.
He's averaged about 26 points, five boards and five dimes against the Celtics over the course of his career. Expect him to a bit better than that and score 35 with five boards and five assists this Sunday.
