FIFA Corruption Scandal: New Issues Sign of Trouble Brewing for Sepp Blatter

New signs of trouble seem to be brewing for FIFA, as three senior football officials could be named as being given kickbacks from a company that sold World Cup television rights, according to the Mirror.

The ISL court dossier will be handed to an independent body to determine if any FIFA officials should be punished for rule violations.

There has been a lot of pressure to open the dossier and examine it for any wrongdoing, and now Sepp Blatter has finally given in to those demands.

Blatter said via the Mirror:

"The executive committee has at my request agreed that in the meeting of December 16/17 we will reopen this file.

"If there are any measures to be taken they will not be taken by the executive committee - it is not the body that can take sanctions or release anyone - so we will give this file to an independent organisation outside of FIFA so they can delve into this file and extract its conclusions and present them to us."

The issue here revolves around a court case surrounding the now defunct marketing company of FIFA, ISL.

Opening this court file is a good move by Blatter, whose recent tenure as FIFA president has been filled with scandals.

Allowing an independent group to examine the case and see if any officials need to be removed from their position or punished in any way is a good first step to help rebuild FIFA's reputation, and prove they are committed to be an organization that gives each country represented a fair shot.

FIFA needs a change, and perhaps this case will allow for the organization to make the appropriate changes needed to help move itself forward.
