Premier League Transfers: Top 23 Rumors of the Week

Thomas AtzenhofferSep 29, 2011

Another week of transfer rumors has come and is nearly gone. Many were tipping Fernando Torres for a January exit from Chelsea, but now that he has scored twice in two weeks, and despite a red card and horrible miss, he looks settled once again.

This week now moves on to two other big name strikers looking to possibly make exits in the coming months. Carlos Tevez and Robin Van Persie are both looking at uncertain futures. Tevez is sure to leave now, it just depends where and RVP is refusing to have contract discussions, fueling a fire that he is about to make his exit from the Emirates.

With the possibly moves for January starting to heat up more let's see what is going on in the press this week.

David Beckham to QPR

1 of 23

The rumors have been circling for several weeks that David Beckham is a target for Neil Warnock and Queens Park Rangers.

Beckham's contract is due to end with the LA Galaxy following the MLS season and he is tipped to make a return to England for what is likely his final professional contract.

Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham

2 of 23

Emmanuel Adebayor is currently on loan to Tottenham Hotspur but Harry Redknapp has been talking up trying to find a way to make the Togo International's move to North London permanent.

Sami Khedira to Chelsea

3 of 23

Real Madrid's Sami Khedira could be subject of a January bid from Chelsea. The lengthy injury lay off of Michael Essien could be one of the main reasons for this possible move, and John Obi Mikel has not been the best of stand-in for the injured Essien either.

Eden Hazard to Arsenal or Real Madrid

4 of 23

Arsenal have made no secret of their desire for the signature of Lille's Belgian starlet Eden Hazard.

However, they could face tough competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Daniel Parejo to Arsenal

5 of 23

Fox News Latino has broke news that Arsenal are sizing up a move for Valencia midfielder Daniel Parejo.

The Gunners are still looking for the long term solution for the losses of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, and Parejo could be a step in that direction.

Aly Cissokho to Liverpool

6 of 23

France's 24-year-old Aly Cissokho of Lyon is again the target of Liverpool rumors.

Kenny Dalglish attempted to sign the player in the summer but now could be plotting to reignite his chase for him in January.

Jeffrey Schlupp to Stoke City

7 of 23

Leicester City player Jeffrey Schlupp could be in line for a new contract from Sven Goran-Eriksson as the Foxes boss hopes to keep the 18-year-old at his current club.

Stoke City and Liverpool have both been mentioned as interested suitors.

Leandro Damiao to Liverpool or Tottenham

8 of 23

The Daily Mirror reports that Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao could be on his way to Spurs or Liverpool after he nearly joined the London outfit in the summer.

Kenny Dalglish and Harry Redknapp are both interested in expanding their attacking options.

Robert Huth to Hamburg

9 of 23

Since the arrival of Jonathan Woodgate this summer, Robert Huth has seen his first time play at Stoke City diminish.

It now seems that the German could be returning to his homeland if the interest from Hamburg is indeed genuine.

Stoke City's luck would probably see them sell him then lose Woodgate to injury for the rest of the season.

Paul Pogba to Burnley

10 of 23

The Clarets are desperate to convince Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to allow 18-year-old Paul Pogba go out on loan to them.

However, Ferguson has been adamant he does not want the youngster taking his leave just yet.

Daniele De Rossi to Manchester City

11 of 23

Roma's long serving midfielder, Daniele de Rossi, was the subject of interest from both Manchester clubs this summer but was not sold on by the Wolves.

Now Roberto Mancini could be looking to go after the Italian once more in January.

Robin Van Persie to Manchester City

12 of 23

Last week I discussed the possibility of Robin Van Persie leaving Arsenal in detail. Now it seems that idea could be taking root as Roberto Mancini eyes another Gunner after already having snared Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri this past summer.

RVP could be drafted in to take the place of Carlos Tevez. However, I see him going somewhere that he is guaranteed more playing time because he is too good to be rotated in and out and at 28 years old still has prime seasons left.

Wayne Bridge to Nottingham Forest

13 of 23

Manchester City's out of favor defender Wayne Bridge could be set for a move back down to the Championship thanks to a prospective move to Nottingham Forest.

He spent part of last season on loan to West Ham United before their relegation, but could now be subject to a loan move by former England Manager Steve McClaren as he desperately tries to stop the bleeding of the former European Champions.

Stevan Jovetic to Chelsea

14 of 23

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is thought to be looking at a move for Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic in the January window.

The Montenegrin attacker has been disappointed by the Viola's chances of success. However, I see little weight to this rumor for a move over the winter with Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba thought to be staying until at least the summer under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Dirk Kuyt to Inter Milan

15 of 23

Dirk Kuyt had been a rumored target of Inter Milan on several occasions when former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez took over the club. Again he was rumored a target during this past summer but did not make an exit from Anfield.

According to Givemefootball.com another attempt to pry away the right wing turned super-sub from the Reds could be back on.

Gary Cahill to Chelsea

16 of 23

Arsenal and Liverpool had looked the prime destination for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill over the summer until the Reds signed Sebastian Coates and the Gunners went cheap with Per Mertesacker.

Chelsea now look the most likely to take the player as the deep pockets of the Russian backed club could put together the kind of offer needed to allow Owen Coyle to let his best player leave.

Mateo Kovacic to Manchester United

17 of 23

Manchester United and Juventus are hot on the trail of Dinamo Zagreb rising star Mateo Kovacic. He has been tipped as the next Luka Modric, and is honored to be rumored to make a move to a major European club at some point in the future.

At only 17 years old he is still likely to remain in Croatia for another season or until at least summer, but he will surely make a move if he continues to impress.

Rafael Van Der Vaart to Arsenal

18 of 23

Caughtoffside.com reported that the Gunners are preparing a major offer to Tottenham for the services of play maker Rafael Van Der Vaart.

Since joining from Real Madrid last season he has been a sensation for Spurs and has completely revitalized his career as well as his stock.

Alvaro Negredo to Tottenham

19 of 23

Sevilla FC have been rocked by speculation that striker Alvaro Negredo is unlikely to sign a new contract.

That news has alerted Tottenham Hotspur, who look to re-energize their possible move for the player in January.

Carlos Tevez to Inter, PSG or Juventus

20 of 23

The Telegraph, along with the Daily Mirror, are discussing the impending sale and possible destinations of Manchester City's Carlos Tevez.

Argentina's bulldog is becoming a headache for Roberto Mancini and it is clear he will be taking his leave in January and at the latest in the summer.

Juventus, Paris Saint Germain and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in the want away striker.

Nacer Barazite to Swansea

21 of 23

Former Arsenal and Derby County player Nacer Barazite is on the radar for EPL newcomers Swansea City.

His season so far with Austria Wien has seen him move back up the ranks of possible transfers deemed affordable by the smaller budget Welsh club in their first year in the top flight.

Ander Herrera to Tottenham

22 of 23

Harry Redknapp continues to look for more midfield depth after the departures of multiple center park players in the summer window.

Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera could be their next big target for January and they are expected to put in a major bid for the Spanish U-21 star.

James McFadden to Wolverhampton Wanderers

23 of 23

Birmingham City released 28-year-old Scottish national James McFadden at the time of their relegation in May.

Mic McCarthy has seen a great start come undone in the last few weeks thanks to an injury that kept Matt Jarvis out for much of that time. McFadden's addition could go a way towards making the attack a little more well rounded.
