Manchester United vs. Chelsea: Why Red Devils Are Good Enough to Beat Barcelona

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Manchester United's 3-1 win against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday was one of the many great performances Sir Alex Ferguson's men have given this season, and in this form the Red Devils are good enough to defeat Barcelona, their recent nemesis in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United couldn't beat Barcelona in the 2009 or 2011 Champions League finals, but if the two elite footballing clubs meet in this year's final in Munich, the Red Devils will have a great chance to avenge their recent defeats at the hands of the Catalan giants.

United forward Wayne Rooney is in the form of his life, scoring lots of goals, but most impressively becoming a playmaker and making his teammates around him better.

Rooney and his teammate Javier Hernandez are forming one of the top scoring duos in Europe, and the addition of wing player Ashley Young has given United a new dimension.

Nani and Young give United the best wing combination in the Premier League, and the two rank among the very best wing tandems in the world.

The interesting part of the United team is the depth and lack of weaknesses it possesses. New signing Phil Jones has filled in nicely during the absences of center backs Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, and Tom Cleverley has injected new youth and skill into the midfield.

The Red Devils can dominate in all thirds of the field, and have plenty of game changers on the bench.

One problem United has had against Barcelona is that they can't keep up with the Barca midfield players such as Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and Sergio Busquets.

But United have many young players who are in good form this season who can use their energy and tenaciousness to combat the highly skilled midfielders of Barcelona.

Darren Fletcher, Anderson, and Cleverley all have the ability to use their pace and energy to beat Barcelona at what they do best, and that's putting the opponent under enormous pressure when they have possession.

Manchester United's scoring talent, depth, talented youth, and experience is the perfect mix that makes up an elite club, and all of it will help them dominate the Premier League this season, and beat Barcelona if the two meet in the Champions League Final next May.
