FC Barcelona Will Not Make Formal Complaint Against Real Madrid

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoJun 5, 2018

According to a report by the Associated Press which was published in The Independent, FC Barcelona announced that they will not lodge a formal complaint against Real Madrid.

FC Barcelona made the announcement in light of the fracas that occurred between the two teams during the final Spanish Supercopa match.

FC Barcelona sport director Andoni Zubizarreta announced that the decision was made after a lengthy discussion with FC Barcelona president Sandro Rossell, manager Pep Guardiola, and assistant Tito Vilanova.

Vilanova was the victim of an intended eye poke from Jose Mourinho.

Zubizarreta declared that the "images speak for themselves" and called on Real Madrid to "analyze and respond" to what happened in the last encounters between the two Spanish giants.

Unfortunately, Mourinho is in no mood for analysis on the part of Real Madrid.

According to an article written by Karolos Grohmann and published in The Independent, Jose Mourinho refuses to apologize to FC Barcelona for the attempted eye-poking incident. Mourinho went on to defend his actions under the excuse of defending the interests of Real Madrid.

FC Barcelona went beyond the conflict between the two teams by not lodging any formal complaints.

I would have lodged such a complaint if someone attempted to poke me in the eyes.

Jose Mourinho could have responded by apologizing and promising that it will never happen again. Unfortunately, Mourinho will continue his behavior until UEFA, the Spanish League,ย and/or FIFA decides on tougher punishment.
