Barcelona Transfer Rumours: 5 Possible January Signings for Guardiola
The arrival of Cesc Fabregas means Pep Guardiola and his transfer saga other the form Arsenal man is finally over. Personally I am extremely thankful for that.
However, there are still many rumors circulating about players that the young masterful tactician could possibly be thinking about eyeing up for the future.
With the club concluding their business for the Summer transfer window, all the talk and planning shifts to what the Blaugrana could do come January. It is unknown how their first half of the season will fair as Real Madrid will be once again knocking on their door.
Selection looks to be a handful for Guardiola but he has shown that he will mix up his squad with fresh talent each chance he gets because the constant new competition appears to keep the team working their hardest.
All things considered, here are five possible players that Guardiola could look at in January should the need or circumstances arise.
Willian
1 of 6Brazilian attacking midfielder and wide man, Willian of Shakhtar Donetsk, could be one of several wingers on the Barcelona manager's wish list come January.
The player has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp since April. He would be another talented player fighting for first team action and pushing the club players to the next level.
He made 99 league appearances since joining the Ukrainian club in 2007 and has scored 13 goals for the side since. Experience in both the Champions League and Europa League also aid his possible move come January if he continues being linked to the club.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
2 of 6Gregory van der Wiel has been linked with a move to Barcelona since this past January. The Ajax and Netherlands International would be a great addition on the opposite flank of defense from Dani Alves.
At 23, he would inject youth into a squad that is slowly creeping up in age.
With 160 total appearances for de Godenzonen since 2006 he has also tallied up 10 goals for the club and Guardiola would welcome another defender with an eye for the goal.
Barcelona would have to put out around £9 million for the player's signature, as his contract is up at the end of the 2011-12 season. This might tempt Ajax to let him leave a little cheaper and while still making a return on their investment.
Nani
3 of 6Although a long shot, the rumors of Nani to Barcelona were active for a short time while the Blaugrana were still trying to wrap up the signature of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese.
However, if the Chilean winger turns out to be a poor signing, Guardiola could be once again searching for alternatives.
With that said the Portuguese player could once again be on the radar. While I do not see Sir Alex parting with him, it is still and interesting thought to entertain.
Gareth Bale
4 of 6Wales and Tottenham wing back and wide player Gareth Bale failed to see action this past weekend due to riots near his club's home ground of White Hart Lane.
However, he has been strongly linked with a big money move to Barcelona. It is rumored that Guardiola could be planing a major raid for the reigning PFA Player of the Year.
Masterful displays in the Champions League and consistent form throughout the English Premier League campaign last season have fueled his rising stock.
His addition would trump the arrival of Gregor van der Wiel, but the cash-strapped Blaugrana might not be able to come up with Tottenham's asking price if they were to go after the young rising star.
Giuseppe Rossi
5 of 6American-born Italian and Villareal striker Giuseppe Rossi had the best season of his career last year.
His 32 goals in 56 total appearances last season made him a target for not only Barcelona but several other big clubs throughout England and Europe.
With David Villa seemingly still not pleasing Guardiola, it's only a matter of time before the Nou Camp welcomes another front man into all its glory.
Talks were believed to have discussed a transfer fee in the range of €25 million to €30 million for the player, but the discussion died down as the Catalan clubs moves for Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas took center stage.
Conclusion
6 of 6It's all just speculation at its finest.
Barcelona has one of the strongest rosters in history, and any of the possible incoming players mentioned here would be hard pressed to do better than the ones already employed by Barcelona.
