Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Javier Pastore and 5 Players the Blues Could Sign
Chelsea are looking for players to sign. So far, the club has remained quiet in this transfer window, but that should soon change.
Rumours have been flying around the Blues, and there are many players that have been linked to the London club. Some rumours have more truth than others. However, at this point, it's tough to differentiate between the two.
Nevertheless, I have compiled a slideshow of five players who have been linked to Andre Villas-Boas' wish list. If I were to guess, at least two of these men will be wearing Chelsea blue by August 14th.
Adam Johnson
1 of 5Adam Johnson is a spectacular wing player. In addition, he has seemingly fallen out of favor with Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.
Consequently, look for Chelsea to try and make a move for Johnson. According to MirrorFootball, Andre Villas-Boas has some interest in the English international. Why not just bring him in? Johnson has no reason to disagree, especially if he might not play much for City this year.
Johnson would upgrade Chelsea's wing play, and he would provide width that the Blues lacked at points last year. He would also add depth to the club, which would bring more consistency to the Blues' play.
The Blues haven't made a move yet, but Johnson would be a great start to their transfer signings.
Kaka
2 of 5Kaka is simply one of the best players in the world. His creativity in the midfield is unmatched, and he has the ability to create goals at will.
Still, he doesn't seem to be too happy at Real Madrid. Consequently, he might be on the move. As of now, it looks like Chelsea and AC Milan (his former club) will be battling it out for the 29-year-old Brazilian. However, I think Chelsea will have more dedication to bringing him in.
Andre Villas-Boas has made a commitment to finding creative players. And, according to GiveMeFootball, the Blues could try to make a move for Kaka.
He is not first on Chelsea's list. Still, if the Blues set their sights on Kaka, I don't think they will fall short. He may be their second option, but if they get to that point, Chelsea will not be able to resist making a giant move.
Luka Modric
3 of 5Signing Luka Modric has been quite the drama for Chelsea this summer. He seemed like he wanted to come (submitting a transfer request), but now it looks like he is enjoying his time at White Hart Lane.
What are we to think?
As a fan, I'm hoping we can find a way to sign him. Nearly everyone at Stamford Bridge has found a way to try and convince him to come. Still, if Spurs don't want to sell him, he won't be sold.
Modric has become a loftier and loftier goal for the Blues, but he is nearly completely out of reach. He is a fantastic midfielder, but unless something drastically changes, I think the Blues will be forced to settle for someone other than Modric.
Joao Moutinho
4 of 5Many people regard Joao Moutinho as the key to Porto's success last year. Even though I only watched a couple games, it was clear that Moutinho was the maestro in Andre Villas-Boas' attack.
Now, Villas-Boas wants the midfielder to follow him to Chelsea. With Porto close to another signing, it looks like Chelsea will be free to sign Moutinho. The Blues want creative players, and Moutinho fits that bill.
It might take the Portuguese international a few weeks to get accustomed to the English game. However, once he becomes acclimated, Moutinho will make a huge difference in Chelsea's quest for silverware.
Javier Pastore
5 of 5Seemingly out of nowhere, Javier Pastore has become one of Chelsea's major targets.
He can create goals, finish around the net and cause defenses fits. For those reasons, Andre Villas-Boas is set on signing the Palermo star. According to the Palermo vice president, the 22-year-old will be a Blue soon enough.
It appears that Villas-Boas is sick of doing nothing, and he may make the move by the end of the week. Pastore instantly makes Chelsea a more creative club, and if he adapts to the EPL quickly, Chelsea will be a force to be reckoned with.
